We who personally know end timers are alarmed at palin, most don't see it though.

I see the possibility of sarah palin with her finger on the button as cause for alarm, but most folks don't know what these people are like, having no personal experience with them.

I am becoming increasingly alarmed by it, and of course I expect to be called a scaredy cat chicken little, but I don't care, I have these assholes in my family and I know how they think, and I know what they have planned.

The radical right wingers are so "happy" about her, but it's also why any sane person will "NOT" vote for her! Sure she has the right wing nut jobs in her corner, and they now feel they can vote for McCain without holding their nose, but I honestly don't think she can pull the independents who are not religious nut cases, to her side. I have even seen some who I consider to be part of the right wing wackos who "WILL NOT" be voting this year at all because of McCain picking her. They were going to vote for McCain, but after he picked her, they are not saying they will stay home!

I really think all this crap about Palin is media hype, for ratings, and republicans like Rove trying to "scare" democrats into thinking that she can pull in the votes needed to win. If they can scare democrats into thinking it useless to get out and vote, they think they can win. What we have to do is realize the tactics being used are the same old crap they have used for years. What we need to do more than anything else it get people out to vote!

Elderly couple across the street. Nice people. Except today they put a McCain sign up in their yard.

To me that sign says they have no respect for anyone not like them, for women in general, or for the country at large. It says they like the idea of forcing their beliefs on others and/or are too lazy to think for themselves and see through the RW bullshit.

Hubby is more succinct. He said "That sign doesn't say 'McCain', it says 'I'm stupid'."

Even worse, their kids and grandchildren who live down the street are Christian nudists and we've had more than one conversation with them bashing Bush** and what the Repubs have done to this country. We thought they were open-minded Dems. But they've got McCain signs too. We're stunned.

10 years ago I wouldn't have taken this seriously or personally. Now, with things as they are, I do.

On a more serious note, I can honestly imagine someone like Palin thinking "God placed me here to start a nuclear war and start the end times"--maybe not out of the blue, but if she feels she's being provoked. (As if God couldn't just start the end times all on his own if he/she felt like it--which a loving God wouldn't, but I digress.) I can imagine a true religious fundie thinking that her sudden ascension to the world stage--which, let's face it, is pretty miraculous--is evidence of God's plan.

Exactly true, your concern about end timers. They do not function in reality. They care only about what they believe should happen...and that belief centers on bringing about the end of the world. Not a very healthy way to run a government.

AoG believers have been praying for the End Times for MANY years. My former husband joined an AoG church in 1978, not long before we were married. He only told me he was going to church, not which one. I told him I wouldn't go (I was an atheist, and he knew it) and he said fine, no problem. It wasn't until I moved to the state he was in--we were both military--that I found out what his church practised. My life became hell after about three months.

I could tell you all kinds of stuff about what he tried to force me to follow in this cult, but it would take a book-lenght post. I had two nervous breakdowns and almost committed suicide before I got the courage to leave with our two sons. This church and others like it turned a sweet, caring, loving person into a monster.

Don't let anyone laugh this off--Palin is the real threat here. Laugh at me, flame me. It doesn't matter. I know what I know.

Oh, and on edit, it's not really Sarah Palin running--by her religious belief, her husband is the head of the family and she does what he says.
