Ohio Pastors complain to IRS about mixing politics, religion (political sermons to take place 9/28)

COLUMBUS A group of ministers in Ohio has filed a complaint with the Internal Revenue Service to stop a conservative group from encouraging pastors to take political sides.

The group of 55 religious leaders from Ohio, Indiana, Iowa and other states said today the actions by the Alliance Defense Fund jeopardize the separation of church and state.

The Phoenix-based alliance has enlisted ministers around the country to invite investigations by the IRS by giving political sermons on Sept. 28.

snip:
The ministers opposing the initiative say it's inappropriate for lawyers to be encouraging ministers to break the law.

Good to see some of the church leaders speaking out against ADF.

3. damn right
You can't preach politics from the pulpit without endangering your tax-free status. If churches want to politic, then they should be ready to pay the taxes...simple as that.

9. The Ohio Restoration Project- which has been trying to 'reclaim
Ohio for Christ'. Ken Blackwell, who lost in the gubernatorial campaign for Ohio in 2006 (thankfully), is in thick with them.

Thanks for the info. I've never heard of the Ohio Restoration Project, I'll have to read up on it.
