Todd Palin - "Commercial Fisherman"
They're trying to play him up like the guys on "Deadliest Catch" on teevee.

The fact is, he goes out fishing for a month in the summers. This sounds more dilettante than serious fisherman. Which sorta figures. How much does it cost to go snowmobile racing? How much time does that take?

I don't give a shit what Todd does for a living. I mention this just by way of demonstrating the huge amount of resume padding and puffing that's going on.

And when does puffery become goo old fashioned lying?

5. "Who the fuck cares?"
Maybe the rudderless kids who, at this moment, could possibly be doing some crystal meth and fucking on the living room floor.

Just sayin' .......

12. Because he sits in on meetings and is copied on confidential state-business e-mails.
Not exactly the guy I want hanging around the White House, y'know?

2. I care what he does for a living
Because he is working for BP Full time. That should be the real point about him. The fishing is a "red herring" so to speak

Alaska is a welfare state and V.P. Candidate Phallic has come talking in tongues, "vote Republican again."

7. It's very common for Alaskans
to work the North Slope oil fields during the winter and "commercial fish" during the summer months.

There are also a lot of Texans and others from the lower 48 that work the oil fields in the winter and spend summers elsewhere.

As far as snowmachine racing, that generally occurs in late winter. But I've heard he's gotten caught cheating at that.

year working for BP 'encouraging young people to go work for BP'-- aka setting Alaska energy policy from his wife's office.

Has else anyone heard the rumor that the Palins' net worth jumped 10 million during her term as governor? Paging the National Enquirer!

9. College students do that all the time.
You can make a lot of money fast.

But they don't go back to U of Washington and call themselves "fishermen."

10. I was talking to someone
who was telling me that these commercial salmon licenses were worth about a quarter of a million dollars and many times were passed on to the next generation in families as they are so hard to get. I saw on DU where either she or her husband were popped for a fishing license violation. I'd love to see more research on this.

11. Really interesting when you FACTOR IN that Revmoon controls most of Alaska's fishing industry.
Scratch any fundie, and you'll almost certainly find a Moonie underneath.
