It is a terrible disease and I am sorry for all who have to deal with it.

If he doesn't, and this hoopla is about something else, well, still, alzheimers is a terrible disease and I am sorry for all who have to deal with it. Universal health care and more research money spent wisely would be great.

Now, off to work, carry on all.

1. Yes--not something I'd wish on anyone. But he better be off the fracking ticket, if true.

3. My Dad had it
Horrible fucking disease. Anybody who is opposed to assisted suicide should be locked up in an Alzheimer's Wing of a Nursing Home for six months and then tell us all about the quality of life. I don't need some right wing family values wack job ruining my family financially because they "value" my life if ever I got into that condition.

2. I have an aunt with early onset alz. She is not doing well at all.
This has been heartbreaking for the family, she did have a "good-bye" party and they tell me it was a heartbreaker. I hope the RNC is on top of this and caribou barbie gets booted back to cold town damn quick.

4. Those sentiments aren't about John Doe, they're about someone who's running for president
& has selected a religious fanatic twit to take his place if something were to happen to him.

Feel sorry for him, yes, but don't allow graciousness to give him a powerful position that could possibly put the last nail in this country's coffin.

6. This whole notion of Alzheimer's has no basis other idle speculation, correct?
Leaving aside the question of whether lonestarnot's announcements pan out or not, has she said anything to indicate that the "big news" has to do with Alzheimer's?

7. No basis? Have you observed him lately?
I'd say there's enough to warrant concern.

8. Many of his gaffes are much more than verbal mistakes.
They are signs of a deteriorating brain.

10. You know what I meant.
The notion that the "big news" lonestarnot is promoting is about Alzheimer's -- the notion which has generated "Alzheimer's" threads by the score this morning -- is based on nothing more than speculation, correct? Has lonestarnot said anything to suggest it?

11. Well I will only speak for myself
It was a matter of logical deduction. All I knew was it involved a prescription drug and lawyers and was perceived as a HUGE blow, a tko to McCain.

What I knew from the Rush oxycontin scandal was that something like that would mean nothing -- just a few stories for a couple days, then business as usual.

In fact, I could hardly think of *anything* that would actually harm the McCain campaign.

So for me, this was the only viable explanation. In addition to my own observations (and others) about his behavior, his past, etc.

12. No, but she hasn't said it doesn't either. She allows the speculation to continue

13. Yeah, me too.
I had an aunt that had it for around 40 years before she passed.
