What a nightmare to go through this twice!

(For that matter Katrina+Gustav if you never left NOLA)

I've been through 4 hurricanes and a couple tropical storms..Opel, Charley, Frances, and Jean plus T.S. Fay (which started out a hurricane) and a couple other T.S's here in FL since 2000 but nothing on the order of Katrina or Ike...

This Ike is gonna be a big deal like Galveston 1900, the 1938 storm, Camille, Hugo, Andrew, and Katrina.

It is also gonna send gas prices into orbit since so much refining is done in Houston.

We need to stop the nonsense of having NO excess capacity, NO redundancy, and NO contingency planning in this country. JIT (Just In Time) has hollowed this country out and left us ridiculously vulnerable to natural disasters, terrorism and all sorts of other ill winds.

1. 6,000 dead in Galveston in 1900.
I took hazard classes in college, but unfortunately, my professor, who was director of FEMA in the region, ended up moving to Canada. :( We have contingency training at work, but you're right, this needs to be much more widespread.
