Many Versions of 'Bush Doctrine'
Palin's Confusion in Interview Understandable, Experts Say

By Michael Abramowitz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, September 13, 2008; A01

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin seemed puzzled Thursday when ABC News anchor Charles Gibson asked her whether she agrees with the "Bush doctrine."

"In what respect, Charlie?" she replied.

Intentionally or not, the Republican vice presidential nominee was on to something.

4. I already used this reply earlier today in another thread
But I might need to stick it in a macro key and reuse it often:

Dennis Kucinich's Truth and Reconciliation Commission will someday discover the legions of "journalists," "pollsters," and "pundits" (like Armstrong Williams) who have been directly or indirectly on the payroll and otherwise under the control of this regime, and those who merely acted as such in an attempt to curry favor (financial, sexual, or otherwise) with the regime.

I hope I will live long enough to see that.

6. So the WaPo is confused about the Bush Doctrine as well?
It's not that complicated. Just because there isn't a paper out there titled "The Bush Doctrine," one does not have to be an 'expert' to understand the belligerent and disastrous foreign policy of the Bush years.

9. It not that she didn't know
Its that she pretended she did and tried to sneak out enough information to answer by asking Charlie "in what respect?"

Even if there are more definitions, none of them match the answer she gave. She should have just said she didn't know. That would mean she's new and ready to learn. The last thing we need is another president who hides stupidity.

11. She never even heard of the TERM before
This wasn't a question of "which version of the Bush Doctrine" she was confused about.

She simply didn't have a clue about any so-called "version".

13. The Post was the biggest cheerleader for war in 2002. It's a rag.
Yeah, I read that, too, this morning, and gagged. Shouldn't have, though, given the Post's GOP sympathies.

14. She was flustered and tried to BS her way out of it. THAT is what's important...
and what was conveyed to the viewing audience (those with any independent thought process, that is).

Ughhhhhhhh

18. The reply they aired was actually the SECOND take. Here's the first:
Charles Gibson: Do you agree with the Bush Doctrine?

Caribou Barbie: I didn't know that he had been doctorin'...I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a medical degree.

Bush's first-strike policy stands out like a sore thumb as the reversal of 230+ years of non-aggressive/defensive U.S. military posture. The other stuff is implicit in any conflict under any policy.

I guess it's a good thing Katherine Graham passed away years ago, because she'd have probably battered her son with a waffle iron over what he's done to the paper.
