here's something interesting about the current hurricane

here's something interesting about the current hurricane
The first map shows the tracks of the costliest storms in recorded history from the www.noaa.gov website.

The second is present IKE projected track.

and last but not least buoy 42035 is now adrift...

Station 42035 - GALVESTON 22NM East of Galveston, TX

Owned and maintained by National Data Buoy Center
3-meter discus buoy
ARES 4.4 payload
29.246 N 94.408 W (29°14'47" N 94°24'30" W)

Site elevation: sea level
Air temp height: 4 m above site elevation
Anemometer height: 5 m above site elevation
Barometer elevation: sea level
Sea temp depth: 0.6 m below site elevation
Water depth: 15.9 m
Watch circle radius: 52 yards




42035 went adrift on 09/13/2008 and the last report from its moored position was 1900Z. It is still transmitting valid observation data, which will continue to be reported here, but not from the location given above.

I tried to copy the url off the map but wasn't working,

BTW...Buoy 42035 went adrift after measuring 16 ft seas....That's a hell of a swell.
