McCain Camp Lying Again -- This Time About Size of Their Crowds
1 hour, 18 minutes ago

Sept. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Senator John McCain has drawn some of the biggest crowds of his presidential campaign since adding Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to his ticket on Aug. 29. Now officials say they can't substantiate the figures McCain's aides are claiming.

McCain aide Kimmie Lipscomb told reporters on Sept. 10 that an outdoor rally in Fairfax City, Virginia, drew 23,000 people, attributing the crowd estimate to a fire marshal.

Fairfax City Fire Marshal Andrew Wilson said his office did not supply that number to the campaign and could not confirm it. Wilson, in an interview, said the fire department does not monitor attendance at outdoor events.

In recent days, journalists attending the rallies have been raising questions about the crowd estimates with the campaign. In a story on Sept. 11 about Palin's attraction for some Virginia women voters, Washington Post reporter Marc Fisher estimated the crowd to be 8,000, not the 23,000 cited by the campaign.

``The 23,000 figure was substantiated on the ground,'' McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said. ``The campaign is willing to stand by the fact that it was our biggest crowd to date . . .''

3. I keep saying "show me a wide-angle pic of the crowd". So far,

no takers. Hell, they can't even get a wide shot when the camera is mounted to a helicopter.

If you'll notice, whenever they show a mcsame/mooselini rally, the shots are strictly tight. I saw a helicopter perspective on msnbc and you could tell the camera operator was purposely holding the shot in tight while they were saying the crowd was in the tens of thousands. There were, at best, 1000 in the helicopter shot.

I'm still waiting for that pic.

16. Dont' forget to mention...
That even though they were filming from a helicopter, the shots were taken from behind building.

I was laughing so hard at that rally, cause I knew it was a lie.

8. Ohhhhhhhhh...so now big crowds are OK???

These jerks.

When Obama drew big crowds, they insulted him. They said he was nothing
more than a speech.

When Obama drew big crowds, they insulted us. They said were were slack-jaw
worshipers who were dazzled by a speech.

They couldn't insult Obama and his supporters enough.

Now, when Sarah Palin gives a rousing speech at the Convention--she's
the most brilliant politician on the planet.

Now, when Sarah Palin and John McCain draw crowds, there the most
successful politicians that ever existed, and these crowds are
evidence of a new, important political movement.

And to think...that we allowed them to make us feel bad. Obama scaled
back his events, and spoke at smaller venues--to quell the criticism.
Obama started giving town-hall style talks, so avoid criticism of his
big speeches.

Will we ever listen to these lying, backbiting, vapid lizards again?

9. Only if they're GOPervert crowds. Dem 'celebrity' crowds, no good;
GOP crowds, good!

McInsane has to *pay* people to attend his rallies. No one wants to endure his hideous visage.

11. NPR was lying about his as well the other day...
it was something along the lines of "ZOMG...Palin is now getting the crowds that Obama was drawing before the convention!"

Nothing but intellectual laziness on the part of the media.
