Did I miss a memo?

It seems to me that this plays right into their game, making us a part of their plan.

5. LOL! Thanks and that won't be necessary.

It just seems so obvious and unproductive. They have answers and distraction all ready to put out as each of these non-issues is brought up, meanwhile the economy was purposely torpedoed to make the uber-rich even richer and we are hemorrhaging jobs at an ever increasing pace as wages fall to minimum, and on and on and on...

2. And they're so incompetent and play to the wind.
Talking policy is better.

3. Yeah like an 8 year economic policy, 13 bil a month that has driven us into a depression.
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 11:59 AM by lonestarnot
I don't hear much about that.

4. Because although we complain about our own constantly,
we may be the weak link in all of this.

We are fighting a corporate media, but we let them set the agenda, and then we react
....and the way that we react is totally ineffective, at best.
We criticize our own, give out losta of advise as to what our own should do, and do this on our own discussion boards.

Do we deluge the media with tons of mail and phone calls? Hell naw.
We just talk amongs ourselves of how pissed we are, and how our leaders are totally lacking this and that.....and then cleverly instruct them on what they should do...

but at the end of the day, we here are no more effective, and in fact, possibly less than the ones on our side that we criticize.

6. I have only once in 8 years seen any organized protest in front of organizations
calling themselves news organizations.

8. My biggest disappointment w/DU was how we threw over Obama's --

-- MAGNIFICENT convention acceptance speech the very next day -- make that, the very next MORNING -- and in TWO SECONDS, and for the NEXT TWO WEEKS, EVERY SINGLE THREAD, EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT, EVERY SINGLE WORD, revolved around her.

No one could get a word through about our own candidates.

10. Exactly, and this is far from the first time.
Do the owners ever monitor the users IPs to determine how many are coming from the same place? I swear there are boiler room operations running out of low wage states, like Florida, where all the posts are the same and they simply overwhelm the rotation with re-posts of the same nonsense.

11. All I could think of was how the freep-types must have delighted in our Palin-mania.
It was ridiculous.

And I'd had the same thought as you about how it really seemed over the top, and whether it truly was all coming from dyed-in-the-wool DU'ers.

I was really disappointed that DU admin thought that was all just fine. It was the first time I really didn't agree with an admin decision.

13. It's pretty sad at times
I've hidden hundreds of P* threads at this point - so many "me too" posters adding nothing to the dialog.

Well if we talk about Ike, which is serious, we won't talk of the CAT 5
hurricane destroying our financial institutions

Also talking about ike is far easier to grasp for many than what is going on with Lehman Brothers... never mind a collapse of the economic system will affect all

But you are right... this is playing right into the media frames

And just using Lehman Brothers as an example of things that folks rarely speak off. We try... but they sink like the proverbial stone

18. Great question.
Because, in spite of the ritual disdain expressed for the MSM, DUers are just addicted to it as the rest of the nation?

19. My reason? Because I've got fewer than 1000 posts
despite being here since 2002. And I've seen how posters with under 1000 posts are frequently accused of being trolls.
