He's a sick joke. She's a religious freak. Together, they clearly identify the Republican Party. But, what about McCain's constant babble about not dealing with Washington lobbyists? Aren't you sick of it? I sure as hell am. Especially when it becomes clear (was this ever in doubt?) that everything McCain says is a lie - either because of his gross ignorance, or because of his belief that we are ignorant. (I mean his belief that you and I are ignorant. Of course Republicans are ignorant. Fatally so.) His ongoing bullshit about lobbyists is close to being the sort of shrieking you hear if you've ever visited (or resided in) a state mental health facility.

The latest evidence of McCain's lies and delusions comes from Mother Jones Magazine:

McCain has been quick with fiery, populist-tinged speeches. But one thing has been missing: any acknowledgment that McCain's own campaign has been loaded with the type of people he's been denouncing. (The McCain campaign did not respond to a request for comment; we will update the post if they do.) As Mother Jones previously reported, former Senator Phil Gramm, McCain's onetime campaign chairman, used a backroom maneuver in late 2000 to slip into law a bill that kept credit default swaps unregulated. These financial instruments greased the way to the subprime meltdown that has led to today's economic crisis. Several of McCain's most senior campaign aides have lobbied for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. And the Democratic National Committee, using publicly available records, has identified 177 lobbyists working for the McCain campaign as either aides, policy advisers, or fundraisers.

Of those 177 lobbyists, according to a Mother Jones review of Senate and House records, at least 83 have in recent years lobbied for the financial industry McCain now attacks. These are high-paid influence-peddlers who have been working the corridors of the nation's capital to win favors and special treatment for investment banks, securities firms, hedge funds, accounting outfits, and insurance companies. Their clients have included AIG, the newest symbol of corporate excess; Lehman Brothers, which filed for bankruptcy on Monday sending the stock market into a tailspin; Merrill Lynch, which was bought out by Bank of America this week; and Washington Mutual, the banking giant that could be the next to fall. Among these 83 lobbyists are McCain's chief political adviser, Charlie Black (JP Morgan, Washington Mutual Bank, Freddie Mac, Mortgage Bankers Association of America); McCain's national finance co-chairman, Wayne Berman (AIG, Blackstone, Credit Suisse, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac); the campaign's congressional liaison, John Green (Carlyle Group, Citigroup, Icahn Associates, Fannie Mae); McCain's veep vetter, Arthur Culvahouse (Fannie Mae); and McCain's transition planning chief, William Timmons Sr. (Citigroup, Freddie Mac, Vanguard Group).

Aside from being tired (I have a two-week long 2x a day cat sitting assignment which requires me to get up at the butt-crack of dawn and since the car's on the fritz I have to take the train :( )I'm doing well. I'm so happy, I can visit her everyday on my way home from walking the pooches - she lives a block away from the light rail station. I really miss having coffee with her at her house.

The insurance company called last Mon. practically demanding a transcript of Charlie's grades be faxed to them immediately. I cracked up, called Charlie as he has graduated, is 18 and is now the guardian of his high school and college records. He called a couple of days ago and told me that between classes, and the phone calls to get the ball rolling, 'this being a responsible adult is getting on my last nerve.' He'll be home this weekend! :bounce:

I know how Charlie feels, being a responsible adult has been on my last nerve for about 21 years now. Tell him it'll get a little easier after age 21 when he'll be able to obtain legally adult beverages which help take the edge off.

I'm doing a two week, twice a day cat sitting job at the moment. The kitty is really sweet and doesn't hold a grudge even though I make him take medicine when I go.

His mom said they put his pill in his food and would just eat it. Yesterday when I went for my first visit, I noticed his pill on the floor by his food bowl where he'd spit it out. I tried putting the pill in his food and he ate everything except the pill. Fortunately, they also have the meds in liquid form and so far I haven't had too much of a problem giving it to him. The kitty's not thrilled about it but he doesn't hold a grudge.
