Honestly, I *just* saw Thomas Frank before Rachel Maddow interviewed him live!
Edited on Wed Sep-17-08 08:35 PM by Lex

It was weird, sort of. My SO and I got home from a local independent book store (Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh NC) for his book reading, and there he was being interviewed by Rachel Maddow LIVE on her show. At the bookstore, he had said he had to leave quickly after signing his book, but he didn't say why (to go to the local NBC studio evidently).

Weird. The dude is waaaay smart and funny. He wrote What's the Matter with Kansas among others, and his new book is The Wrecking Crew. Big turnout for him at the bookstore. His wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Frank

:hi:

3. People were digging on him, and he had a nice big turnout.
Warmly welcomed, and lots of smart questions from the audience.

4. Cool!
It doesn't top getting a hug from Helen Thomas! But it was weird to come home, sit down and turn the TV to Rachel and THERE'S Thomas Frank live, who we'd just seen 30 or 40 minutes ago in the bookstore. Funny.

5. Thomas Frank and Kevin Philliips
are the best analysts of this country that currently exist. Rachel is rapidly ascending to their league. They connect the dots and expose the bullshit and lies with splendid clarity.
