Rachel Maddow's impressive ratings: already tops Olbermann!
And she's been on for how long? Not to take anything away from K.O., but this is an indicator of how good and charismatic she is:

The data is for the very important 25-54 year old category.

1. For what it's worth.
One of my neighbors came over to chat while she was on. I offered to turn off the TV, but in that moment he said to leave her on. We watched her show. He had no idea about her, but was so impressed that he will be watching from now on.

2. I suspect her ratings will eventually fall to just below Olbermann's
New always gets high ratings.

5. Please explain.
What is going to make people turn to CNN or Fox? It's the 9:00PM slot. Those that watch Keith will tune in to Rachel,,,and then some.

9. I think he's saying that people who wouldn't watch anything in that time slot
are watching right now. I hope it's the opposite and that word of mouth makes her show's audience grow even further, but the 'newness' factor does make any wholesale declarations at this point a bit premature.

6. she's fabulous, but maybe too intelligent to be VP.
I've listened to her on the radio for a few years---on Air America. I don't want cable TV. She's witty, wickedly smart, and unpretentious. I'm thrilled she's doing so well.

7. Look how well Keith draws when the rerun is on.
I think that's very significant.

8. The stats for Fox explain perfectly
why polls are close. Dumbing down of America doesn't even cover it. What a sad commentary on the American people.

11. Kind of an off topic here,
but what in the world are those background noises on her show? When I tuned in the first week I thought it was just people working things out and it would get better, but I hear this beeping going on all the time, and this low level hum of voices like she's in a train terminal. I don't hear that stuff from Olbermann (I know she's in a different studio).

She's very professional and it doesn't distract her, but I'd love to know just what that is.
