"God is Invading Alaska."
Sarah Palin is in the middle of the crazies of the religious right and this video shows how entrenched the Republican Party is with them. Watching the behavior is proof that these people are dangerous ... Spend 10 minutes watching this video. http://thinkingisnotdangerous.blogspot.com/

Just as insane as the people who attacked us on 9/11.

This is the step after Jesus Camp.

They make wild claims of healings. They speak in tongues. They are far right - radical.

Apologies if this has been posted a brazilian times.

4. Does this woman really believe the earth is only 6,000 years old or is this
part of her ruse to get the support of the neocons and evangelicals?

8. You can convince yourself of anything
in a desperate bid to "belong."

10. i honestly think they don't "believe" in any of this crap in the way you and i think of "belief"
i think they believe in certain chosen authorities, and that their role as followers, teammates, or whatever in that hierarchy is to learn and parrot back the party line. they don't "believe" it, because they've never questioned it, and they'd "believe" the exact opposite the minute a suitably respected authority told them the new party line had changed.

to them, these things they spout are merely identifiers of belonging to a certain tribe. the republican tribe is the one that insults democrats, liberals, socialists, etc. so they do this to assert their belonging, and also to test yours. if you agree, they accept you as a fellow tribesman; otherwise, they peg you as the enemy.

12. I like your take on this.
But is there a middle ground? I mean, I think there is something to be said for submission to a 'higher' authority. From what I've read of The Bible, it seems Jesus taught acceptance, inclusion and forgiveness (or at least not being judgmental). How did the republican authorities co-opt this message into an 'us vs' them' approach to daily life? Something doesn't add up. What is so evil about Democrats?

14. there's something to be said for loyalty; but, all things in moderation
it seems a solid 30% of the country is so blindly loyal to the republican party that they would stand by and defend a president who admits to torture, among many, many other horrendous things that they would NEVER stand for if a democrat did EXACTLY the same things.

they impeached clinton for being lawyerly in a deposition in a civil suit that was dismissed as meritless. but shrub has done nothing wrong in their eyes. his worst offense, BY FAR, according to most republicans, is that he sullied their "brand".

the authority figures in the republican party (ab)use religion to control the masses. there's nothing christian about their policy positions. THEY know it's all about greed and pillaging and screwing others. but they also know that the truth won't sell. so they use every trick in the book to sucker people in, and religion is a tried and true method, as is patriotism/nationalism.

they rarely engage in actual biblical/theological debates or discussion about their views or our views, because they're not interested in an honest discussion. they're interested in painting us as anti-christian or anti-american or any other form of "other". so they just ASSERT that we're anti-christian and that god is on their side and make the republican rank-and-file feel like THEY, TOO, will be branded as "other", or "enemy", and cast from the tribe should they dare to disagree.

so they've learned not to think, not to critically evaluate. because no good can come from this. they listen, they accept, they parrot back. and they are comforted in their acceptable within their 30% group of unthinking, fearful, hateful, pathetic followers of a false authority.

27. Sorry to say
but I KNOW people who absolutely buy into this.

You do offer an interesting view and there probably are those who fall into this category but there are brainwashed believers -

I find ALL religion to be a cop out and a blatant attack on THOUGHT. It's easy to believe that a giant scarab pushes the sun across the sky and takes no intellectual curiosity.

Belief in a sky being and an imaginary friend is scary and delusional.

- Cell phone annointing
- Worship & Warfare
- "There's been a dead person raised..."
- " She's (Palin) a disciple of Jesus before she's the mayor"

Those were just a few of the frightening things I jotted down as I watched this. What a truly horrifying prospect - that these people could exert any influence over our government.
This has to be seen by anyone who cares about this election and this country. I hope we can keep this kicked.

13. To an atheist like myself there is no difference.
"religions" are just socially acceptable cults. Irrationalism and blind faith is bad whether is is socially acceptable or not.

7. "this world has nothing for me" they sing
That's what the super-religious think, that's what lets them rape the planet. "His image" causing a mass-extinction doesn't mean ANYTHING to them.
I blame religious people.. for the rest of my life I blame religious people for what they're letting happen to the planet.

20. My land line sucks
Ever since AT&T took over Southern Bell. Do you think I can get one of these folks to come over and exorcise it?

Even the Mormons don't bother me any more, after they got a glimpse of my living room. "Just ignore the huge Buddha statue, and the alter. Thank you".
