Interesting: not a single Ike/Galveston post on LBN right now

Remember the aftermath of Katrina? It was everywhere, for weeks.

I know it's been said before here, but it's pretty scary how fast the media turned away...or was turned away.

(edited for brain/finger disconnect)

1. Yeah, can't really get much info on where the missing people are
and who's at risk of dying? I'm really concerned about the way they seem to sweeping this under the rug...or should I say the sea?

3. Katrina was an anomoly

How much do you remember of Hurricane Ivan? That was a recent devastating hurricane, coverage lasted about 3 days. How much do you remember Hurricane David? That nail the town of Navarre and surrounding areas as a strong Cat 4/weak Cat 4. I think that was in the media attention span for all of 1 day.

if it's not a major city, the msm doesn't care. There are devastated sections of LA right now, not any coverage either.

According to this post

Posted: Sun Sep 14, 2008 8:03 pm Post subject:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the entire galveston county airspace is closed to media and private aircraft. only government aircraft are allowed to fly over the county. this is due to the dead bodies in the streets which the county officials do not want published. san leon has a count of 15 deaths but galveston is about 8 or 9 announced. more will be announced as time progresses

Why is the media not allowed to cover this??? I'm not saying publish images of the dead however, give us the truth.

10. Yeah, I noticed a couple days ago that it was virtually non-existent on the CNN web page.
I started checking the Houston Chronicle site for updates. (www.chron.com)

11. The latest in Houston is that people are being told by 211
that they can apply for and get food stamps for two months if they're in the disaster area but local officials are asking for proof of income.
