Pit bulls and McCain. Why I fear Repubs will win again. Emotions
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 02:49 PM by uppityperson
Facts don't matter. People are afraid, uncertain, not knowing who or what to trust. They are afraid and look for "facts" to back up with emotions. This applies to many people, all over the world, about a whole lot (including "pit bulls omg" and politics) and here in the USA we sure as shit have a lot to be afraid of. So, my fear is people will not care about the facts of Mccain/lipstick Obama/Biden, but will let fear rule them.

I'm still talking and working and all that, but also realizing that people (the masses) HAVE to have their emotional needs addressed also. Never give up, keep on working, but also working on figuring out how to appeal to people's emotions.

3. I am hoping so. I got my theory from MrUP and have had it proved
over and over. People make emotional decisions, then look for things to back it up. I am tired. You know?

12. I understand. But fear and negativity are the problems not the solutions n/t

16. They are the problems. I am addressing them, impact people's emotions also.
my op wasn't clear enough, esp the subject line, but hey, it got people to look and reply. Emotions.
Onward and we will win.

11. Look at any recent polls. If you don't think recovering 7 points in one period isn't skyrocketing
I don't know what to say to you.

13. It can't remain as up and down as it has been -- or as close as it
remains, without the probability of the third presidential election in a row's being stolen.

Given the state of the economy, to say nothing of the continuance of the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq, there shouldn't even be a contest at this point, to say nothing of a close one.

14. We get the race we have not the race we want
There is no certainty in life. But all signs are extremely positive at this point. Of course there shouldn't be a contest but decades of the GOP attacking our government and destroying our infrastructure have created a LOT of ignorant Americans ... that was the whole idea ... We win the battle and live to fight another day.

17. I have no doubt we'll win the battle, even if narrowly.
Unless we win by a landslide, though, we're going to have our third presidential election in a row stolen.

I still don't understand why our "leaders," including Pelosi, Reid, Clinton and Obama, did nothing to prevent another stolen election. Even vetoed legislation would have brought attention to the situation and put the Republicans on notice not to try it again.

18. We'll win the same way we did in 2006 -- by a BIG turnout
Too big to flip the margin.

Not everyone can say what they want to say. The Bush Crime Family is VERY dangerous and always has been.

and doing everything they can to throw the election.

They are like the Terminator, they won't stop until they are destroyed.

And if we have reached the point -- and I'm afraid we may have-- where United States Senators, to say nothing of the Senate Majority Leader and the Speaker of the House of the House of Representatives are afraid to do their jobs and speak out against the shredding of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, we've already lost.

22. It was far more difficult to fix 468 (House and Senate) elections than
one presidential contest. And some think Rove and Company still managed to cut down on our elected majorities in 2006.

2. They're Not Going to Win

They're in a death spiral in the polls, and they're not going to recover from it. He's senile, and she's a know-nothing nobody. Barack and Joe are bright, eager, enthusiastic, and have actual gravitas. Plus, the "hidden factors" favor the Democrats this time around - - in 2004, it was the Rethugs motivating their base of evangelicals to avoid a repeat of 2000, but this time, it's Obama who almost assuredly promises to have the better GOTV operation; and with the predictable exception of Florida, there are Democratic apparata in the swing states that will help to prevent election fraud.

Obama and Biden are going to win.

4. Working towards that, envisioning that, trying to hit people's emotions too.
Involve them emotionally and it helps. Like that tax thing, rather than saying "if you make more than $250 thousand a yr", I've been saying "if you make more than twenty thousand a month, have you EVER made $20 in a month?"

Hit people where they feel it. Laughing at bs can work also "bwahahaha, you didn't really believe THAT, did you? Did they think you were stupid or something?"

6. Yes they are -- because Americans are too stupid to know who is screwing them
I had a terrible revelation yesterday. I was waiting in a doctor's office with abou 20 other people. TV was on and the people in the room began talking. Every single one of those people was strongly for McCain repreating the MSM lies at the saem time they were discounting all the stories about McCain's an Palin's lightness of gravitas and dishonesty as Liberal bias. We got into quite a tussle about it, but the mind of the electorate as represented in that room (in Little Rock, Arkansas) was McCain/Palin 88% and Obama/Biden 12%.

We are going to lose this thing.

Our only chance was Hillary and we stupided that chance away!

7. Work on people's emotions as well as giving them facts.
They have a hard time hearing facts past their emotions. Not getting into Hillary stuff, not appropriate. Hit them with emotional stuff "do they think we are stupid enough to believe THAT?"

9. You are making your assessment based on the opinions in ....
wait for it....Arkansas? We are going to win this. You are right about one thing. We
might have had a chance to win Arkansas with Hillary, but not Virginia, Colorado, Indiana, Montana,
and so on.

GoBama!

5. The repigs wont win!!! Don't you feel the excitement?
The Obama Biden ticket is amazing. Don't you notice the number of views the post are getting here on DU (18,000 and no one commented because it is normal)? Don't you notice the number of Obama Biden stickers and yard signs? Don't you notice the strange lack of McInsane and Crazy Sarah stickers and signs even in the red, red heart of Tennessee?

Somethings happening here....

....and it is not being captured by the corporate opinion polls.

8. I do feel the excitement, simply trying to point out people's emotions rule
Once they make an emotional decision, it is difficult to change that with just facts. Hit them in their emotions also. I think I did not make my OP clear enough, sorry.

15. To be fair, I think emotions run pretty high on both sides of that argument.
You know, I'm a hard core skeptic. Big time into all that sciency stuff. I get frustrated because it seems to me the numbers clearly show there is a problem with pit bulls. But, people really get emotional about pit bulls, and people get emotional about babies. Big flame war around these parts. Don't think you can read all that much into it. But, cheer up. I think we've got numbers on our side when it comes to Obama. I really think we're going to win this one! :bounce:
