Election 2008: Indiana Presidential Election
Obama Cuts McCain Lead to Two in Indiana
Friday, September 19, 2008

Indiana is one of the most reliably Republican states in the nation, but John McCain currently holds a statistically insignificant two-point advantage over the Barack Obama among Hoosiers.

The latest first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of voters in the state shows McCain attracting 49% of the vote while Obama earns 47% (crosstabs available for Premium Members). A month ago, McCain enjoyed a slightly larger advantage.

1. hurrah
In 2004 Kerry lost to Busy by about 1 million to Bush's 1.5 million votes. In the 2008 primary Obama & Clinton combined won about 1.3 million votes. Plus of our 9 districts, before 2006 we had 7 GOP and 2 democrat. After 2006 we have 5 democrat and 4 republican.

So if McCain is forced to spend money here, that is money he can't spend in Ohio or Florida.

If Obama wins the same states Kerry won in 2004 (west coast, east coast, northern midwest) and also wins Iowa (which he should) and Indiana that'll give him 270 electoral votes exactly. He can lose Ohio and Florida and still win.

2. Rasmussen is wrong...Obama is ahead in Indiana.
Also, it is predicted that there will be 750,000 new and updated voter registrations by the cutoff date. I heard on the news last night that there were already 500,000+ new registrations.
