They're now floating a giveaway of twice that much, which tells you the ultimate amount will be even more. A lot more. An awesome, almost inconceivable amount of money.

Of course, that's in addition to the nearly $1 trillion they've already paid on Freddie and Fannie, AIG, JP Morgan/Bear Stearns, etc. etc.

3. Next time one of these types touts the free market, tell them about this.

Of course, this isn't by any means the first time. I remember back when Chrysler got a 'helping hand' from the government. I couldn't seem to figure out how these people in suits could with a straight face say they were working in a free market. And then, there's the airline industry.
