Yes, there are deeply angry members of Congress:
This email is from a lawmaker and it should give you a flavor for what's going on right now in Congress.

Paulsen and congressional Republicans, or the few that will actually vote for this (most will be unwilling to take responsibility for the consequences of their policies), have said that there can't be any "add ons," or addition provisions. Fuck that. I don't really want to trigger a world wide depression (that's not hyperbole, that's a distinct possibility), but I'm not voting for a blank check for $700 billion for those mother fuckers.

Nancy said she wanted to include the second "stimulus" package that the Bush Administration and congressional Republicans have blocked. I don't want to trade a $700 billion dollar giveaway to the most unsympathetic human beings on the planet for a few fucking bridges. I want reforms of the industry, and I want it to be as punitive as possible.

Henry Waxman has suggested corporate government reforms, including CEO compensation, as the price for this. Some members have publicly suggested allowing modification of mortgages in bankruptcy, and the House Judiciary Committee staff is also very interested in that. That's a real possibility.

And oh deary me, there is so much more. Not exactly in words, but complete, utter, profane and brutal honesty. Whomever this worthy is, he or she let it ALL hang out.

1. The first little ping
of hope I have felt in a while. Still, we all know what happens to the outliers in the party. We shall see what happens.

3. I want shrieking, incalcitrant RAGE.
Give them NOTHING without them giving back twice a much.

Those BASTARDS really plan to take every cent of our money in return for NOTHING.

Make them crawl on broken glass. I need to see their blood gushing out of their veins. HOW DARE THEY.

The arrogance of that bailout proposal makes Dick Cheney look humble.

5. I would go further.
Things like executives surrendering all assets to the government to cover some of the nut, signing lifeting slave contracts with HARD German dominatrixes, treatment that involves phrases like "Ingolstadt Closet, CBT, nullo" and others begin to encompass my present mood regarding these vermin.

Let There Be Rage. And there was Rage. And it was good.

11. I like the surrendering assets part.
My objection to the slave contracts with the German dominatrixes is that they already have these women on speed dial.

4. I would like to see wording in there limiting this action to 90 days
for a review by the new Congress in January. I do not think we need a Treasury czar - no unlimited power for anyone but especially not for an unelected official using our money.

6. excellent point
Perhaps you should start a new thread on this, and ask people to do a letter-to-the-editor writing campaign to local newspapers on this idea. I'm willing to do it for my own paper.

7. Ok - Here's my new post

I am not sure we have time for LTTEs as they are hoping to give this to the President to sign tomorrow. I think direct contact - email, phoning, faxing of Congress and especially those drawing up the bill - is our best plan of action.

8. What we need is a congress critter
that has the guts to put their name on something like that. Talk is cheep. Anonymous talk is cheaper.

9. Glad you posted this
I did earlier, but a misguided moderator who misinterpreted the rules locked the thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=4051085&mesg_id=4051085

We aren't making threats, moderators ... we're quoting an angry Congressperson.

12. I say before any bail out is even considered
Find every single person involved in gaming the system that brought this to this point be found and have every cent they have in profit and gain sucked right out of thier greedy criminal hands and add this the pot to be given back to the taxpayers and anyone else who lost a dime to these crooks , Include all of the CEO golden parachutes. Then see where we stand.

There should never be a bonus for crime , ever.

13. Hello, the president is amongst the most guilty in this scam,
and probably won't allow charges to be brought against his complicit perpetrators.

It was a confidence game, with Greenspan and Bush encouraging the buying behavior and then Bush Administration blocking the states from charging the lenders with crimes of fraud and targeting minorities. On and on until this crash of a crisis, and then they're ready with the taxpayer bailout.

Whew! Who could pretend to not see this coming? But no one was able to bruit it about in the media. We have major problems with our government.
