LIHOP or MIHOP? (not a 9-11 thread)
Did the neo Nazis who brought all this financial bad news to us LET it happen on purpose, or did they MAKE it happen, on purpose?

Some here say that no, they wouldn't want to let, or make economic collapse occur, because they themselves stand to lose too much money, others say that the vultures will come in to pick at the bones when it all goes down, which is it?

Things don't just 'happen' with the neo Nazis, they make or let them happen, then they swoop in and fight over the scraps.

4. MIHOP and almost completely Republican.
From McCain economic adviser Martin Feldstein, who spread the laissez-faire Friedmanomics cancer in our college 101 classrooms, to Phil Gramm, whose mafioso deregulatory doings are touched upon in great detail on this thread. The S & L Scandal, which set this precedent for cash-carry-get off scot free? Mostly Repukes and their handlers.

They own this pig lock, stock and lipstick.

what was coming down the pike. They are to blame.

....(or make this happen) on their watch so that they can't run away from their responsibility? This makes no sense to me.

9. Who do you think is going to hold them accountable?
They've already gotten away with starting a fraudulent war, torture, and too many other illegal things for me to mention at this time of the morning on no sleep. Congress isn't going after them. And if McSame's numbers are to be believed, 50% of the voting public is fine with all of it.

They're cleaning the place out and no one is going to stop them.

14. Ah, but remember they wanted to privatize Social Security in the worst way.
That would have (presumably) delayed the collapse for awhile. They would have been able to loot even more money for themselves, and leave an even bigger disaster for the next President, who they probably assumed would be Hillary.

8. Since the GOPhers are saying that everything started with Clinton ...
... (because he signed Gramm-Leach-Bliley).

Then my question is why didn't the economy fall on its face at any point prior to last week?

If the repeal of Glass-Steagle meant the banks would fail, what took so long?

The answer is they waited until they made enough money and enough people were suckered into it (with loans and what not).

Plus, they needed their boy in the White House.

So, yeah, definitely MIHOP.

It was a scheme to enable the wealthy to buy up properties so that the working and middle classes would become a renter's society.

That's why even though the value on my place has flipped, I'll stubbornly pay my mortgage (as long as I can). Because after they render all these people renters, the next step is to raise rents sky high.

People are already living in tents in the woods.

17. Of course not.

The Republicans didn't want the economy to collapse any more than the Democrats did, they just didn't realise that that was what their policies would do.

Never make the mistake of assuming they're cardboard cutout supervillains.

De-regulate
Make money and a big mess
Scream bloody murder
Get bailed out at list price
Buy back the assets at street price
Make more money
Rinse and repeat.

21. Neither. It wasn't on purpose.
They intended to bleed us just a little bit more quickly--that's all they ever want--but they lost control and effed up.

The * Administration, of course, reacts to every crisis with a power grab, so the end result may be the same, if Congress caves yet again.

See this article:

http://www.rollcall.com/news/28599-1.html?type=printer_friendly

where White House Deputy Press Secretary Tony Fratto says:

"Fratto insisted that the plan was not slapped together and had been drawn up as a contingency over previous months and weeks by administration officials. He acknowledged lawmakers were getting only days to peruse it, but he said this should be enough."

So they've been sitting on this for months, all the while telling us and Congress that the "fundamentals are sound", and then all of the sudden Congress (supposedly the controllers of the purse strings in our government) are given an ultimatum: pay up in 7 days OR ELSE!

It's a protection racket and worse. I've already called my Senators and representative, as well as Nancy Pelosi, and urged them to vote NOT ONLY NO, BUT HELL NO!!! This is a railroading. I told each of them that I am madder than hell about this, I hope they're getting this message loud and clear from their constituents.

These fuckers have plenty of money, they're just lining up for the final scam.

PS According to the sources mentioned in Dr Debug's journal, many of the current players were also involved in the hinkey pre-9/11 trades.

40. DEFINITELY made it happen on purpose.
Why would the Republicans not want to destroy the nation's economy and thus have the entire world see that the very policies they've been espousing for decades are full of shit?

It only makes sense that they would want everyone to think they're total failures.
