We can survive without the bailout, it's Wall Street that's scared
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 02:13 PM by Wetzelbill
The American people can withstand anything. We're the ones who can tough it out. So what if things get worse, you think we can't handle it? Things have been bad for awhile now. Nobody seems to care all that much when we're hurting.

If they can't pass this thing with a real upside for the American people, then hell with them. We shouldn't have to get hosed because Wall Street can't take a hit that they brought on themselves.

The American people are the ones who sacrifice. We're the ones who do the hard work, we're the ones who fight their wars, and we're the ones they come to when they screw everything up.

So what are they going to take away? My money? I don't have much to begin with. My rights? They've been trampling over the Constitution for 7 years. They have nothing they can take away from us that they haven't been trying to take away for years. Lots of us have been sickened watching a radical economic ideology poison our lives. We've seen the middle-class get destroyed, we've watched our deficit go through the roof, and we just kept living our lives the best that we could. Now after everything they've tried to sell to us has proven to be an absolute fraud, they want us to pay for it?

No thank you.

It's time to look out for the American people and not just a privileged few.

1. The best sign of that fear...
Are the gyrations of the energy market today. The price of oil, per barrem, is starting to come down now, but it has been gyrating wildly. They are shitting themselves and don't know where to turn.

And they (govt. & wall street) want us to cough up another 7 billion? Didn't we agree to bailouts of approx. 7 billion a few weeks ago?

By the way, isn't a barrem a fancy barrel?

8. Exactly
As soon I heard they wanted this thing immediately, it reminded me of The Patriot Act. Just blindly ram through some bullshit that screws us with no questions asked because they have us all scared enough to believe it.

13. Sounds about right
The repubs won't be happy until they have eliminated everything FDR worked hard to provide for the common folks. Social Security is probably the burning issue with the conservatives. Looks like people should consider the welfare we are providing for wall street.

6. How does thia help?
Ok so we give big bucks to the institutions who recklessly lent that much, and more ,to get us into this mess.
They are suppose to use their windfall to put money into circulation via lending? Who are they going to lend to?
Originalley they used predatory practices to build a market for their product. One reason they had to create that market was because inflation and low wages had driven that market out.
So what has changed... We will take on the debt they incurred and they will have to create a market for their product, again.
If they are allowed to fail we will still be in the same boat, high inflation low wages.

7. I don't know much about economics
Just basic common sense stuff and a few additional things here and there, but this thing makes little sense. It seems like they are simply trying to scare us into it. "We need it now!!!!" Well why? "Because!!!"

It's fishy all around.

impossible to keep clean unless kept as pets. Periodically it is necessary to shear the entire flock right down to their hides and sell the wool...it's for their own good. The wool will grow back and the meat is good if consumed while the animal is young.
