Panic Grips Tenn. During Gas Shortage

The following is a sample of some of the posts coming out of TN. regarding a gas shortage.
I'm hearing nothing of this on my local news, nor in the nat'l news. The situation is beyond
shameful.

How can a country go through this much heartache and not vote for a brighter future with Obama.
There's just no hope if we don't elect CHANGE. Obama is change.

"Don't laugh it is real, a real disruption in supply to states via the pipelines from the Gulf. States who did not realize how dependent they were on Gulf Coast oil and gas. Now think more a Cat 2 Storm has disrupted gasoline to several states, damaged towns all along its path to Chicago who's people flooded and lost power. Ohio damage and lost power. Texas damaged and still withou services. It is real not a joke. Real sad as it points out how unprepared the current administartion is when an area of the USA gets damaged. Millions of Americans are hurting some without homes, family, some floodeSad too that some Americans not affected think it is a joke, it is serious and we are not prepared nor are the republicans protecting anyone but those millionaires on Wall St.d homes, some no utilities, some no gasoline all from one small storm. Yet teh cureent administration will scare you into voting them back in power becasue they claim they protect you from terror in a foreign war and spend trillions of you money mostly helping the rich."

1. We drove back to Ohio from TN last Sunday, the day that the storm rolled through Ohio.
On our way out of TN we paid $5.49 a gallon with a maximum purchase of $35. It was not a pleasant experience. When we got back to Ohio we were without power for three days and had six trees down in the yard. Not good.

2. I live in Middle TN
Right in the middle of the gas shortage or gas outage. Some folks were saying it was like the 70s even though my parents said they never stood in long lines for gas. I was at the Tennessee Titans game, and normally they have the big, coach shuttle buses, but they had the smaller ones (i.e. like the ones for airport transportation) because of the shortage. Another good reason to vote for change and vote Obama! :patriot:

The Bush Economy has really hit people hard, but it doesn't stop people from voting for Republicans here. The Anti-Obama smears have been really disgusting. Some days I feel ashamed being from this state. :nopity:

8. I know what you mean. I live in Middle
TN also. Yesterday my son and I had to buy groceries and I was shocked at the price of gasoline. And, maybe I am a brick shy of a full load, but I simply do not believe there is a shortage of gasoline. It is just another trick by the Bush administration. If Repubs win the presidency, it will be because they have scared us to death. It has worked before.

12. I am smelling a rat in all of this too
The panic mode screams "Fear Factor 4, 8 years later" all over again. I don't think there is a gas shortage because the news people said that other states, cities (minus Atlanta and Tallahassee) have gas. They are saying that more should be in by the end of the week.

I agree with you about the Repukes and McBlinky. :scared:

Thanks for sharing your story. :hi:

3. Gas is scarce in Western NC.
Three people called me today asking if I knew were any gas was. They are on E, ready to run out.

Here, it's not the cost, but that there is none to be found.

5. TN will vote for the asshole. Again.
It's a place for truly ugly minds. Gore never had a chance Kerry didn't have a chance and Obama doesn't have a chance. No matter what.

Gore was badly mocked in his own hometown of Carthage. It was sick seeing all those Bushies against Al. Kerry didn't have a chance either, and giving all the nasty GOP smears against him, it's unlikely that Obama has a chance here. However, there's a lot of DINO, DLC types and hard core Repukes who will never change regardless of how the economy is.

6. Similar in NC
At least 2/3 of the gas stations here are out of gas & the ones that are working only carry regular unleaded.

7. Strangely, in EAST Tn, gas was $3.59/gal today, but last week was $4.99 and we had none. I guess the
panic is spreading westward.

14. Dunno. I called my brand new Freshman at MTSU, who was
planning to come this past weekend on Thursday to ask about this and to ensure that he had enough gas to get home. He said it's been crazy from what he's heard from commuting students, and they were stressing about getting back and forth to campus. His tank was 3/4 full so he had more than enough to get home, but he topped off before he left to go back Sunday.

I didn't notice price swings, but stickers requesting purchases be limited to 10 gallons.

10. What is funny
I knew this was going to happen allready when Gustav hit. Just by reading the commentaries and predictions of smart PO-aware people who do their homework, as a past-time hobby. Gives them loads of cred, don't you think? But who listenes Cassandras anyway, so much more comfy to blame some conspiracy instead of trying to understand the system one is participating.

11. This situation stresses how dependent on foreign oil we are. They
are sticking it to us and turning the knife. In the last few weeks I keep remembering that photo of Bush holding hands
with the Saudi prince. He/They knew what was ahead for all of us. McCain was part of the Republican Congress for all
those years.

Hope you good people from Tennessee see some stability soon .
