BUSHCO Admits They Have Been SITTING On This - So-Called Emergency Bail-Out Plan - "FOR MONTHS"

Bush Mouthpiece Admits: They’ve Been Sitting on this Plan
By: emptywheel Tuesday September 23, 2008 8:57 am

Did they simply not tell us about their fuck-up so they could spring the $700,000,000,000 surprise on us on a Friday and demand results by Monday? The Shock Doctrine at work!

Hidden in an article reporting that Cheney's going to go hunt up some support for the $700,000,000,000 bailout is this admission that the Bush Administration has been sitting on it for some time:

Fratto insisted that the plan was not slapped together and had been drawn up as a contingency over previous months and weeks by administration officials. He acknowledged lawmakers were getting only days to peruse it, but he said this should be enough.

53. Stocks are UP this morning. Do they really need a bailout?
If stocks are up this morning. The DJIA is up about 2 points, not great but better than opening down. So if stocks are up, it indicates this supposed crisis is simply a mental crisis. It is all in the heads of the CEOs and former CEOs of Goldman Sachs and company. If stocks can open up, then all that has to be done is say that Congress is doing something, then Congress merely does NOTHING and stocks will open up every morning.

Like Phil the pill, and McInsane's chief economic adviser, said they are just whiners. The crisis is all in their heads.

They don't need a bailout!!!!!!

Let them alone. They'll be fine.

We wont be fine but then we are going to suffer even with the ridiculous bailout.

73. Paulson's Lies
I was suspicious from the beginning mainly because of the
'convenient' timing. Just before Congress adjourns. Shortly
before the November election; one of the most important
elections in my lifetime. And just because I don't trust any
Republican; not a damn one of them. McCain can take his
"Country First" and shove it. He has sunk so low
now he will never be forgotten nor forgiven by many.

Investment banks hold good investments, except for their bad investments. Therefore, the government should pay cash-for-their-trash, according to Tony Fratto.

I want the investment banks to use their good investments to recover without a bailout.

If the White House has sat on this for months -- all the while saying that the "fundamentals are sound" -- then I say, what emergency? This is an attempt to railroad Congress and the taxpayers, pure and simple. Time for some tough love. Just say no!

nothing to ward off this even greater disaster? Makes me sick. In these past few months, how many people lost their homes while Washington sat on its' backside and did nothing?

How many more dollars were made by exec's at our expense? Could we have a group of people any more incompetent in Washington now? A few days to review and OK the biggest bail out in American history?
I demand as a voting American, that my government review all options before giving any of my hard earned money to these charlatans.

56. Exactly. Let the rich bail out their buddies
and leave the rest of us out of it. The rich can fight it out amongst themselves. If, as we keep hearing, this is a crisis on the magnitude of that which led to the Great Depression, we should use the same type of solution they did back then. Raising the top tax rate on the richest .1% to 90% sounds about right. The top 1% can kick in a few extra bucks too.

Why is no Dem anywhere in Congress even mentioning this? Bernie Sanders wants a tax surcharge of 10% on individuals making over $500,000 and couples making over $1,000,000 but even that would only raise an estimated $300B. He's on the right track but the rate needs to be raised so they pay for the whole damn thing. The Dems need to get on board and make sure that any bailout bill that gets passed is paid for entirely by the rich bastards that caused this mess in the first place.

48. The far rightwing plan of "Starving The Beast" has been nearly completed
The rightwing republican plan to destroy all government by draining the American taxpayers resources has been in progress throughout the Bush presidency. Their attempt will be near completion with this bailout. After which the republican cries for the elimination of social security, medicare, housing, etc.. will begin in the vein that we can't afford them anymore.

No notice for a trillion dollar bailout with no oversight (and probably won't work)? They knew the house was on fire and saved themselves
but rang no alarm, even for congress? Now they yell fire! to create a panic so their friends can loot?
That's finally enough for me,

I DARE TO CALL IT TREASON.

72. Let your son take a bullet for Bush in Iraq but won't send him $2,300 when he needs it
What the hell is wrong with you.Arwe you mad yet that youve been lied to and used and lost what you loved so dearly for this man's schemes. Bush says he's having a fine life, sleeps good every night. Has your pride kept you in denial? Impeach hell I think they should be in prison forever.

74. Thom Hartmann is now saying MIHOP on the mortgage crisis.
He played an audio of Bush saying they were going to put home ownership in the hands of poor people and minorities couple of years ago. Thom says BushCo were planning for this collapse to happen in the next administration to either a Democrat or John McCain whom Bush doesn't like. Either would get the blame.

76. I'm not convinced that it was intended strictly as a time bomb to explode on a subsequent admin ...
... as much as Bush had no economic recovery plan other than to turbo-charge the housing industry way beyond what market fundamentals would have otherwise allowed. Without the war and the housing bubble, we'd have had no positive economic numbers for the entire duration of Bush's Presidency.

Like with everything else associated with Bush, I don't buy the master evil plan theories as much as those that attribute the disasters as the consequences of Bush's actions being exceedingly uninformed and short-sighted. Everything Bush does is geared around short-term political maneuvering.
