WASHINGTON - Senators dug in their heels Tuesday, pushing back against dire warnings from the government's top economic officials of recession, layoffs and lost homes if Congress doesn't quickly approve the Bush administration's emergency $700 billion financial bailout plan.

Congressional leaders still predicted passage � with significant changes � but Wall Street's nerves were hardly soothed. The Dow Jones industrials sank 161 points and now are off more than 500 this week after initially surging on the bailout announcement last week.

That Condi said was going to be a mushroom cloud? Remember the non-existent WMD? Remember "Mission Accomplished?"

Sorry, but we would be better off having Pat Paulsen as Treasury Secratary, than this POS Paulsen, even if he's dead!

are the 2 quarters of negative gdp? Which is bullshit to me. A recession is when people are having thier jobs go overseas, losing thier homes, and not being able to afford groceries, gas, and an occassional beer.

Fuck the rich folk, let them drink homegrown chardonay for once.

The republicans have been propping up this economy all year, and fudging the damn numbers to continue with the false claim that we are not in a recession. I looked at more damned gov. data than in my entire previous years, and that is what is happening.

In fact, the numbers even though bad, are in actuality so much worse that the dam they erected in hopes of getting re-elected just burst right before the election. This is a recession, made worse by them trying to cover it up against all odds, and soon to be a depression.

I really dislike these people.
