Discussion: FBI investigating firms involved in bailout
http://money.cnn.com/2008/09/23/news/companies/fbi_finance/index.htm

I don't see much discussion about the implications and/or triggers for this development, which was breaking news last night.

Have any of you read commentary about what this means or could mean?

Do you feel this is an FBI rebellion? Do you feel it's part of another Bushco pre-planned conspiracy?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. :)

1. still considering the options...
I've been thinking a bit about this. So far,
1) It's an honest look see into what's been going on (hard to believe this tho', what with the DOJ anything but honest lately),
2) It's a preemptive effort to beat any charges of fraud/complicity on the part of Wall Street that might derail the bailout, as in 'we've looked into the charges of impropriety on the part of the wall street thugs..er, folks, and find that they've done absolutely nothing wrong here so you can trust them to use your $700,000,000,000 in an ethical way.'

Really haven't got enough info to figure this angle out, but as with anything else they do, I'm not trusting this to have any effect other than to make it worse for us, the taxpayers.

3. Apparently this investigation has been going on for some time.
According to the BBC, it started around the time the housing market collapsed.
