What possibly could he be doing in Prime Time to "work on the financial crisis"?

He's going to be toiling day and night doing exactly....what?

I think the clown will go into hiding just to claim he's "busy"...Go ahead John, skip the debate.

16. If there's no McCain there's no debate
The organization that organizes the debates has already stated that they will not do the debate if McCain doesn't show up.

5. The wrong one, if this MSNBC poll is any indication of public opinion on this matter
Agree or Disagree: Friday's presidential debate should be postponed so the candidates can focus on the economy

166,753 votes, 70.8% strongly disagree with postponing the debate, and the comments... wow

13. It's up to 71.3%
:)

Another interesting thing is the "top answer by location" map, which is uniformly blue*. Wish that our electoral map looked like that :P

*the key for the "Strongly disagree" option in the poll.

8. I'm sure the handlers have considered the ramifications
You think they'd float an idea like this, if they hadn't already thought it through?

Whatever their rationale, I'm sure it's not good for us.

15. Not ready for prime time
And I still haven't heard the explanation from McCain's campaign of what he thinks he's going to accomplish by going to Washington for 72 hours when he hasn't shown up for a Senate vote since April. Like, now he's going to get engaged with the problems and whip everything into shape?

Not showing up for the debate Friday will also reinforce the "suspended campaign" story, which I regard as lethal. There is no way to come back from that announcement, and no matter how they spin it, McCain is now and always will be the candidate who cut and run when the going got tough.

18. It will send a clear and simple message to the American people:
McCain is afraid to debate Obama. The subtext is even worse for McCain: if he's such a foreign policy expert, WHY would he be afraid? I think it's pretty clear that his handlers have chosen to pull the plug because he's impaired in some way: he can't remember the "right" answers, and when he wings it he gets it embarrassingly wrong. Worse, every time they try to get him to use the wireless in-ear monitor system he says "I don't NEED a damned hearing aid, you whipper-snappers!"

to toss on McCain's platform. Then he should talk to it.

22. Giving voters the middle finger
What will Obama do? Will he show up? Will they televise the spectacle of McCain missing the debate. Will Obama get the questions? Will it be canceled beforehand? So many questions....
