Democrats in Danger

I'm listening to radio, I'm talking to neighbors, I'm talking to local business folks, I'm talking to Republicans and Democrats and unaffiliateds -- no one is in favor of the "Bush Cronyism Bailout Plan".

And, there is real, genuine anger about this, even with the 'compromises' that allegedly make the bailout more Main Street friendly.

How the backlash will come is anyone's guess, but if it looks like the Congressional Democrats are the prime movers of this plan (along with Bush, for god's sake) then there will be hell to pay.

Why are we hearing that a bill is just about ready and that there are the votes in Congress to pass it?

I'm stunned.

they could lay the blame squarely at our feet, even though they blamed the 9/11 on Clinton and attributed the economic prosperity of the 1990s to Reagan.

I think people want to see what the bill looks like.. if its still to similar to what Bush is asking, then I'm affraid that this will be really bad.. these congresscritters will need massive amts of security to protect them, and they may just lose their seats.

it seems like mccain is going to try and play hero in getting this bill done...so if he is going to run on the "it took a maverick" to get it passed then it wont hurt dems....could help mccain though considering how dumb the sheople are!!!

Both Dems and Reps reacted negatively and it was the Dems (I think) who initially put in the safeguards and conditions.

I'm not sure either party is willing to do NOTHING. So, whatever they approve - or don't - will be pretty much bi-partisan, I think.

Further they are saying the answer is MORE deregulation, "Let the markets work and keep government out of it".


It is a risky proposition. Personally I think they should go with Shuemer's idea of $150 billion to start.

Said Repubs won't vote for the plan until Dems admit that the cause of the problem is too much Gov. Regulation. WE all know that it was the opposite, NO regulation or oversight, in addition to corporate greed, caused the problem. They're trying to blame the whole thing on Fannie & Freddie. As I understand it, Fannie & Freddie didn't even buy the worst of the sub-prime and "creative" mortgage loans.

And people actually believe this shit. We need MORE deregulation?? Dems need to apologize for this? Do they really think Americans are this stupid????? Are they?

anybody that supports an administration-based plan. Keep calling and telling them that there is no need to rush through this 'bailout' because Bush is hysteric. We need to look at all alternate plans being proposed by economists around the country. We need to see some proof that credit is drying up. We need a list of whom the administration/Paulson wants to give money to. We need to stop this!

friendly" is just lip service to passify the ignorant masses. The news that this will pass is PROOF of this. One has to be willfully fucking ignorant not to see the obvious that our side is just as fucking bad on this issue though at least they make an attempt to talk the talk for show at hearings but nobody with half a brain is fooled.

Republicans can run against Democrats who vote for it as big spenders.

Just like they bend over to fund the Iraq war.
