Religious leaders call for fast in support of gay marriage ban
http://www.365gay.com/news/religious-leaders-call-for-fast-in-support-of-gay-marriage-ban/

(San Francisco, California) Hundreds of pastors have called on their congregations to fast and pray for passage of a ballot measure in November that would put an end to gay marriage in California.

The collective act of piety, starting Wednesday and culminating three days before the election in a revival for as many as 100,000 people at the San Diego Chargers’ stadium, comes as church leaders across California put people, money and powerful words behind Proposition 8.

Some pastors around the state and nation are encouraging their flocks to forgo solid food for up to 40 days in the biblical tradition.

Jim Garlow, the pastor of the evangelical Skyline Church in San Diego County, said he expects up to 100 young adults to spend five-plus weeks on his campus, subsisting on soup, juice and the promise of societal salvation.

“This is not political to us. We see it as very spiritual,” said Garlow, a leader of an interfaith coalition that has held monthly teleconferences, shared sermons and solicited donations for the ballot measure.

2. I went 17 days without food once. I know it sounds conceited, but I'm pretty tough as they go.
There is no way these preachers could go that long without food. No way.

7. What a bunch of rubes
And it's not fasting if you're taking soup and juice, Dumbasses.

I feel bad for the people of San Francisco who are going to have a bunch of skinny assholes with a case of the liqui-shits running around town.

9. I saw a "Yes on Prop 8" bumper sticker
at my daughter's school yesterday and it made me feel sick. People are such ass hats! I wish I had a bumper sticker that says "Don't be a bigot, vote NO on Prop 8." Religion is just the excuse for this kind of bigotry.

11. Y'all go right ahead.
I can think of a lot of pastors who could use 40 days of fasting. Hagee, for one.

12. Think positive! Maybe fasting will make them so feeble they won't vote.
I've given up trying to understand them, trying to reason with them. They are irrational.

Marriage is a human right. Proposition 8 shouldn't even be on the ballot, and anyone who votes yes on Proposition 8 should be deeply ashamed of themselves.

These people are disgraceful.

There is as much chance of them fasting as there is of them taking up long-distance running.

26. Our church has recently come under fire for performing gay / lesbian marriage ceremonies.
We are on a highway to hell according to quite a few other churches in the area.

The fact is, that these religio-nuts are just lazy fuckers, and are just a bunch of wimps that just don't have what it takes to make any REAL change in our society. So they just keep it simple, and go for the least common denominator all the time, and keep them sucking on that old hatred tit.

Hey...it keeps the collection plates full.

I just point out that maybe they need to put their bias aside for one second, and realize that gay marriage is not a problem. Our public schools are falling apart, our infrastructure is crumbling while health care is now absolutely unfordable. People are losing their homes and being tossed out in to the street, and regular, everyday, hardworking people that have been busting their tail ends off supporting their families are now starving, while billionaires are getting granted millions in bailout money while laughing at all of us while saying "let them eat cake."

As "problems" go...they should have a few other priorities besides what grown adults are doing with their lives right now. As a matter of fact, if they actually wanted to make up a list, that one should rank down at about number 745. They should try doing a little of gods work by tackling the list of real issues that are confronting our communities, and when they get down to that one...we'll talk again.

I don't seem get along with a lot of other churches for some strange reason.
