2. That $700 billion: 1. May not be fully used. 2. Is buying assets, not just giveaways.
3. Is not our money at all.
4. Is at least partially necessary. I do not necessarily think $700 billion is the right number and possibly a more targetted deployment of $200 billion could be more effective, but it is necessary.

4. Neville Chamberlain: "I believe it is peace in our time."
Prime Minister Chamberlain and his government also rejoiced after giving in to and groveling before fascist thugs. That didn't work out very well, if I recall correctly. I have a BAD feeling about this.

5. This is so crazed... that this thing has Democratic ownership...
... written all over it now. While Repukes try to position themselves as Defenders of Main Street, Apple Pie, and The American Way of Life.

I'll wait to see details of the new plan. But I sure hope our Democrats applied some political instincts to this thing, along with their economic skills.

It will do our country NO GOOD AT ALL to provide a temporary financial reprieve... only to open the door to four more years of Republicans in the White House. I truly worry that America might not survive that, not any sort of America that we'd recognize.

7. Or Relief that they averted an inferno?
I hate a bailout but I'm not sure how bad it is without one either.
