3. Cantor was trying to take post credit for the oversight....
The oversight was in the draft already before the republicans came up with "their plan"

Our plan does this our plan does that and Frank said the Repubs plan wasn't any different

Cantor is a bloviating idiot

8. He's The Point Man On This Deal
No one in Congress knows more about banking or has worked on these issues longer than Barney. The Democratic leadership chose him to take the lead on this matter and thus why he's getting so much camera time. He's had a lot to explain as this "crisis" has evolved and the more he says, the more sunshine is being shone on this dark issue.

I think Barney has done a great job considering all the assholes he's had to deal with.

11. Let's See What A Final House Vote Is...
I'll be curious who lines up in favor and who is against. Then we can discuss whose "bail-out" this is.

Bottom line is a bill is coming out...and this one is a band-aid...the real crisis still goes on and this kicks this mess past the elections. Then, if Democrats are victorious, a new bill can be pushed through that begins to address the corruption. The problem at this moment is to keep the credit market from going totally belly-up that would put millions out of work before the end of the year and even more afterwards...it's a quick fix just to keep some of this screwed up economy going. Again, this isn't the end-all, do-all like the corporate media claims it to be (or the politicians), the underlying problems of foreclosures and debt defaults will continue and the banks will continue to collapse. The issue right now is to slow the collapse. Maybe this bill does that...at least for the next 40 days.

14. Agreed....
Those who want to pin this mess on the Democrats will and are doing so. I'm hearing asshats on the teevee blaming Carter and Clinton...they're out with the talking points blaming the minority lending programs as "forcing" Wall Street to screw these people over. Go figger.

I firmly believe this "crisis" was set up by boooosh as they saw Gramps going south in the polls and the realization was that he could lose. That's where the panic was as these crooks were looking for one more big fleece before it was too late. While Paulson got some bones to protect his bosses, he also had to cave into taking this bail-out in chunks and getting oversight. It's kicking this can past the elections.

Pelosi said she wouldn't bring the bill to the floor unless there were significant GOOP support...and we shall see. There's definitely the support in the Senate where Dodd has everything all set up. The bottom line is no matter what the concern trolls and talking heads say, voters with a sense of decency know whose been in charge of the economy for the past 8 years and under whose watch this mess happened.

The political game here...and it is a game...is just to cool this thing down past November 5th.

Cheers...

13. Community Re-investment Act + they went through deregulation
issues back to 20 years ago. Also Frank said Greenspan didn't use his authority to cut off the abuses

Main thing was Frank gave him a solid history lesson as Cantor was spewing his BS
