What companies other than AIG who wrote CDS contracts may be liable?
Is MMC a candidate for huge liabilities? I know Putnam (their investment division at one time had some problems about a year ago)

Any others?

Anyone?

1. No one really knows
It is an unregulated industry. There is no central clearing house.

Although it is probable that the big players know quite a lot about who has made what kind of committments.

2. Shadow market and off the books....seems like I read where
some of the big banks even wrote them on themselves! Holding a risk management portfolio in that respect. Good lord
