CBS Still Sitting on Most Damaging Palin Quotes?
It had been a blog rumor for days -- that CBS still had not aired some of Sarah Palin's most, shall we say, awkward moments with Katie Couric. Don't know if true but someone claimed one of them featured her being asked if she could name anything that Dick Cheney has done wrong and she simply answered that he had shot his friend in the face (or something like that). Anyway, Howard Kurtz lends more credibility to this today, noting at the end of his column, "And the worst may be yet to come for Palin; sources say CBS has two more responses on tape that will likely prove embarrassing."

Palin Will Spend More Time With Couric, Cont'd
Team McCain tells me the strategy of having Palin talk to traditional broadcast networks ABC and CBS was designed to allow Palin to reach the maximum number of viewers. "Coming off her tremendous performance at the convention, our goal was to allow as many Americans as possible an opportunity to see her answer questions about her record, her biography and her principles and convictions on as large a stage as possible," one campaign source told me this afternoon. The new CBS interviews, to be done tomorrow, are intended to keep Palin in the public eye as she prepares for Thursday's debate.
