In some ways, A GREAT DAY!
Don't you see what happened? Congress( the majority of them) couldn't say yes to the bill as written because of an overwhelming response from THE PEOPLE! THE PEOPLE SAY NO!

I figure that it must've been an awful lot of phone calls and emails to cause such a roar! THE PEOPLE SAID NO!!! IN MASSIVE NUMBERS!

And that's the beauty of it!

THE POWER OF THE PEOPLE! INTACT! MAYBE NOT AS MANY SHEEPLE AS FIRST THOUGHT!!!

PEOPLE NEVER FORGET THE AMAZING POWER OF YOUR MASSIVE NUMBERS!!!!!!

Folks everywhere have had enough of Bush's terror tactics, and now even if it wasn't a completely bloviated request, we might have fallen a little for it, but it's really just like the boy who cryed WOLF!!!!

Even if there was a real emergency, we will not buy it! NO HOW!! NO WAY!!!!

I think any other time, this bailout would have passed. But these guys are afraid they might be voted out in a little over a month if they were to vote for the bailout - and rightly so.

*edited for clarity

10. Now if only the people had a clue.....
Most trained economists can only guess at what effect a certain action will have on the economy. I'm pretty sure THE PEOPLE don't know more than economists. Besides, half of these PEOPLE are being egged on by right-wing talk radio idiots whose goal is to make the Democrats look bad.

Oh, and there is a real emergency, or do you notice banks failing every day?
