Since John McCain has seen fit to inject his national campaign into our state's politics by attempting to shut down the investigation into Walt Monegan's firing, we are inviting people from all over the nation to sign our petition to remove Attorney General Talis Colberg from office.

We already got over 1200 signatures at the rally. Several hundred more from the online petition should make an impact when both of these get to Talis Colberg's office probably later this week. It's sad really. From what I understand, he's a gracious and unassuming gentleman, but he's potentially letting his loyalty to Sarah Palin destroy his career. Not only is he being asked to resign, but there are moves afoot to get him disbarred.

As one sign at the rally said, "You can't say 'Thanks, but no thanks' to a subpoena."

Things are moving fast here on DU. Please sign the petition. It only takes a second and you will be doing Alaskans who are trying to help YOU a big favor. Before Sarah Palin takes on the US, she needs to deal with things here at home.

Sorry to be so pesky, but this is a legitimate petition that's going to legitimately be delivered to Talis Colberg's office this week. We're doing everything we can up here to hold Sarah accountable - you can help.

(We have 933 signatures on the online version plus well over a thousand from the rally and whatever signatures have been picked up on the paper version since. Three or four thousand signatures by tomorrow would be fabulous.)

Here's my additional comment:

I find it strange that Democrats have to argue "states' rights" to Republicans, but this condoning a Federal election campaign into an internal state political investigation cannot be tolerated. At best it is cowardly, and at worst it is seditious.
