Both John McPalin and Sarah Cain are joke punchlines.

No SNL skits have gotten more play on the 'serious' media than Tina Fey's reading, in character, the actual words spoken by Sarah Cain.

John McPalin pissed off the wrong guy when he blew off Letterman. It took just a few nights of Letterman ranting on him to make the whole gambit of the 'suspended election' and 'racing back to DC to save the country from Wall Street' to make them nothing more than the stupid political stunts they were.

Ignore the cheering 'throngs' and the McPalin/Cain rallies, like today's in Columbus that was peopled by mostly religiously insane college students.

They are each, in their own rights, the punchline of jokes.

Soanyway ..... didja hear the one about the president who held hands with the King of ............. ?

3. Bush wasn't the punch line of main stream jokes. Only the left ridiculed him in any serious way
This time, Obama gets almost no fun made of him what so ever. McPalin and Cain are, as postulated, widely understood as joke punchlines.

It is a very different dynamic this go-round.

5. The larger media were marginalizing any jocularity aimed at Golden Boy
Instead, they ambushed Kerry with 'humor'.

They did the same thing to Gore in 2000.

This cycle, it is McPain and Cain who are being reported upon with laugh tracks playing.

2. There are two very easy jokes that all Dems should use often....
that are effective at making Repugs punchlines like they did with Gore inventing the internet.

Going up an escalator or elevator or to a high place.... Say, "I can see Russia from here."

And if anyone mentions anything about the economy or the bailout just say,.... "Looks like we need more tax cuts and more deregulation to solve the problem."

6. Easy jokes
I'm telling people not to worry about Fidel Castro because I'm
keeping an eye on Cuba from my house in Florida.
