One that has been lost for decades

A Great Start would be to prohibit Feds from interfering in states with Medical Marijuana Laws.

Surely, one of our reps has to be in the process of getting that kind of law introduced and passed?

I swear, I'm increasingly inclined to believe that the two-party system is only an illusion

There's only one real party

The Business Party

All Hail, Big Pharma!

3. We need all kinds of enemies to justify all of their surveillance, intelligence.......
spying, security and protection. You want to put all these government workers out of a job, or what? The USA is a self fulfilling nightmare.

4. So they have introduced an amendment to start
withdrawing. They are trying to work out a solution that everyone will vote for. Even tho they are representatives, they must do what they think their constitutions want. There are some who want an orderly withdrawal. Just because must of us want the war to end now this minute they have to make sure that an orderly withdrawal is in place. Should they just pull up and leave and all the military take their chances at getting out alive.

5. Conidering the dems authored the "war on drugs", why would they end it?
Because it's a proven waste, immoral, and unjustified? And it's the right thing to do?

12. It may have been a Raygun brainchild...
But the dems controlled both sides of congress with a big majority. They also authored the racist "mandatory minimums" sentencing schedule, ie: possesion of 1 gram of crack= 20 year MM, 1 gram of powdered cocaine, no MM.

6. I would support a law making medical marijuana a state issue.
But I don't know if any Senators are brave enough to take that position.

10. Both the Iraq war and the drug war are unnecessary and have done more harm than good!
Edited on Wed Mar-14-07 09:19 PM by Pushed To The Left
I heard Angel Raich's husband being interviewed on the way home from work. I can't believe the federal government wants to take the time and effort to come after a sick person just for taking her medicine. It is disappointing that more Democrats aren't trying to put a stop to what I have heard described as the "urban Vietnam". However, I still believe Democrats in general are head and shoulders above Republicans. One big thing to consider is the Supreme Court. Democrats are much less likely to support right wing judicial nominees than Republicans, and a Democratic President would be less likely to try to appoint a far right activist judge. Even Rudy Guiliani, considered by some to be a moderate Republican, says he wants to appoint right wing justices. The most important thing is keeping the far right out of power and especially out of the courts. If we can keep the right wing out of the courts, then maybe one day these inhumane drug laws will all be overturned, much like the "sodomy laws" were in 2003. Here are some good groups to support for those of us who oppose the drug war:

The ACLU www.aclu.org
Drug Policy Alliance www.drugpolicyalliance.com
Marijuana Policy Project www.mpp.org
