Did Obama's speech in Nevada change your opinion about the rescue plan?
Or did it make you change your mind about Obama?

Please only answer if you read or listened to the speech.

6. I was listening to Kucininch, too and he's sold me
on the idea of the Federal Gov't buying up the troubled mortgages to make them substantive to the investors and renegotiable for the families fighting to stay in the homes.

I heard this idea first last week on the Thom Hartmann Show and I heard other references to his idea since then. Each time I hear this idea it sounds more sensible - help the people at the bottom and let the cash flow upward.

It's also a helluva lot cheaper than giving 700 B dollars to the conmen that created the mess in the first place!

2. I thought it was a good speech
the only part I didn't appreciate was him blaming Congress instead of the GOP part of Congress

3. It certainly soldified my view of him as a responsible leader
who has a firm grasp of what's going on and what's necessary to turn it around.

4. It made me more appreciative of his leadership qualities,
and it showed that he can do much better than Bush or McCain when it comes to selling something, even if it's unpopular, to the American public.

But it didn't change my opinion of the bailout bill that got voted down. Please note my emphasis. I don't disagree with doing something, but the bailout bill that got presented wasn't that much better than the blank check, original, 3 page bill by Paulson. It still gave the Treasury Secretary too much authority, the oversight had no real teeth or enforcement and it allowed the President to be the sole arbiter of increasing funds.

Congress can do better than that.

7. No, I think he is wrong about the bail out
at least this plan. If they try something else, I may get on board.

11. That's what Obama called it.
"Over the course of a few hours, the failure to pass the economic rescue plan in Washington led to the single largest decline of the stock market in two decades. Over one trillion dollars of wealth was lost by the time the markets closed on Monday. But while the decline of the stock market is devastating, the consequences of the credit crisis that caused it will be even worse if we do not act and act immediately." -- Barack Obama

Nice try, though.
