Time to write your Senators
Today the Senate is going to try and sneak that travesty of a bailout bill through, complete with Fresh and New Tax Cuts:eyes:

This bailout plan is insanity, it is designed to be help for Wall St., not Main St. It will actually cause a much more devastating economic situation within six months, as this additional amount of debt will crash the ratings of our US Treasury Bonds, thus cutting off all funding for government. Moody's was already thinking of cutting our ratings in January, so with a further 250 billion don't think those ratings won't crash and burn. No money for government, for infrastructure, for Social Security, for defense.

This is horrible legislation. Write your Senators and tell them NO, we want a better deal. With elections just a short time off, we've actually got some pull. Write them and tell them that we don't want this travesty, and their job is on the line. <http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm>

1. The bill is meaningless. They're grandstanding, killing time until the House sends them a bill.
The Senate should be ashamed of themselves and they should know that the country can see right through them.

2. Be that as it may, we've got to keep hammering home the message that we want a better deal
Hit them with this at every turn, hold them hostage to the elections. At this point in time, we've got our so called public servants between a rock and a hard place. They've got to get a deal done, yet they've also got to listen to we the people. Time to squeeze them for as much as possible.

6. Already have, but the vote tonight is in the Senate
We have to oppose this on all fronts, not just one.

4. Yep- I'm contacting them as well as my congressman
and telling them not to risk freezing the credit markets and letting the situation spiral out of control based on people who don't understand the consequences- much less the bill itself (which they repeatedly misrepresent).

Hoppefully, they'll get the point.

7. I wrote to mine..
but she's a useless corporatist Republican.

Some good news is that CNN seems to have gotten the message that we're sick of being told to panic. They have toned down their hysteria considerably, and they have actually been presenting some balanced perspectives.

8. Oh, you never know
I was surprised when my 'Pug Congressman actually voted against this travesty of a bailout, as did Dennis Kucinich. Gotta love populism, where liberal left meets conservative right and makes common cause.
