I know this link is a couple days old...but FUCK.

DENVER -- The Denver police union is selling T-shirts that poke fun at protesters at last month's Democratic National Convention, but the main target isn't laughing.

The back of the shirts reads, "We get up early to beat the crowds" and "2008 DNC," and has a caricature of a police officer holding a baton.

The front has the number 68 with a slash through it, a reference to the Recreate 68 Coalition, which organized several demonstrations during the convention.

2. Is there an intelligence test
that one must take in order to become a Denver police officer?

Although, since I remember Chicago, 1968, far too clearly, I thought the people behind Recreate 1968 were nuts.

That's no excuse, though, for this crap.

And there you have it - a pure example of free speech, which we must defend while we abhor it.

3. How fascist of them...

They need to update the psych tests given to potential candidates - clearly, many of today's cops are seriously disturbed.

Oh, and I'm the son, nephew and brother of police officers.

4. Sometimes I am just at a loss for words.
And when I see that kind of thuggery, I just don't know what to say about it. It shows that not only did they put a beatdown on people that were there to exercise their free speech rights, but they were proud of it.

As much as I abhor these shirts though, I would never wished them censored...it puts us at the level of a fascist when we think along those lines. Better to let everyone see them wear those, and see thm for the common thugs that they really are when they do.

7. My father just rolled over in his grave!
He was a police officer when they were there to actually 'protect and serve'. Of course, that was when God was a baby. I hate what this country has become. It really is time for a change.

5. Police unions are not the police per se.

Still, its right for people to be angry about this.

8. Not so very long ago, Denver had a great police force.
Real members of the community types that were helpful and deescalated situation, avoided confrontation where possible, and used their judgment in applying the law.

It was a nice city to grow up in.

Every time I visit I practically cry what they've done to this once-pleasant town.

10. It helps it you understand cop humor...
Many professions that deal with life and death situations have their own humor. Doctors, nurses, military personnel etc use humor to deal with the stress of the job. The humor is NOT politically correct.

I never held a job in law enforcement or the medical profession, but I've had numerous acquaintances who did.

Examples of other T-shirts:
