In an effort to change the tone: Suspected 9/11 mastermind confessed
Time to bring out 9/11 one more time...

In an effort to divert the attention for the exposure of all the crimes bu$h and his regime have committed and to justify Guantanamo, the regime is announcing they have the mastermind to 9/11.

Suspected 9/11 mastermind confessed
WASHINGTON - Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, confessed to that attack and a chilling string of other terror plots during a military hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a transcript released Wednesday by the Pentagon.

“I was responsible for the 9/11 operation from A to Z,” Mohammed said in a statement read during the session, which was held last Saturday.

The transcripts also refer to a claim by Mohammed that he was tortured by the CIA, although he said he was not under duress at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo when he confessed to his role in the attacks.

1. Well, since information obtained by torture is admissable,
I guess that his confession is considered "good to go"!

Case closed. Right?

Can anyone else besides us see the damage that this crowd has done to our judicial system? Everything is suspect now. Our idea of "truth" is now determined by who said it, and not by any rule of law.

We are no longer a Country of Laws.

34. Not only after torture but did any reputable, non neocon actually make a translation
or was just a transcript provided? Just wondering. Funny how the assassination attempts were only aimed at Clinton and Carter.

3. Just Why Would Any One Believe This? Given The Record ...
of lies and deceit of shrub's junta, anyone trusting a 'record' of closed proceedings leaves himself open to being labeled a fool. The benefit of the doubt does NOT go to the crowd in power.

Never trust power!

Lie to me once, shame on you. Lie to me twice, shame on me.

6. Won't work this time, the Dems need to point out the irony
that every time this goddamn administration is in a pickle, they bring out something related to terror. To distract, to throw sand in the eyes of the people (ala Fitzgerald)

This administration is politizing TERRA, just like everything else!!!!

7. False admission of guilt about the 9/11 attacks (Political witch hunt trial)
I am not a lawyer -- but it seems as though this is a false confession about the 9/11 attacks, so therefore - it is not his factual account of reality, or of the 9/11 attacks.

I am not a shrink, but psychologists seem to imply, that false confessions are easy to obtain by military judges.

CHAPTER ONE -- YOU TOO WOULD CONFESS

A fantastic thing is happening in our world. Today a man is no longer punished only for the crimes he has in fact committed. Now he may be compelled to confess to crimes that have been conjured up by his judges, who use his confession for political purposes. It is not enough for us to damn as evil those who sit in judgment. We must understand what impels the false admission of guilt; we must take another look at the human mind in all its frailty and vulnerability.

The Enforced Confession

During the Korean War, an officer of the United States Marine Corps, Colonel Frank H. Schwable, was taken prisoner by the Chinese Communists. After months of intense psychological pressure and physical degradation, he signed a well documented "confession" that the United States was carrying on bacteriological warfare against the enemy. The confession named names, cited missions, described meetings and strategy conferences. This was a tremendously valuable propaganda tool for the totalitarians. They cabled the news all over the world: "The United States of America is fighting the peace loving people of China by dropping bombs loaded with disease spreading bacteria, in violation of international law."

After his repatriation, Colonel Schwable issued a sworn statement repudiating his confession, and describing his long months of imprisonment. Later, he was brought before a military court of inquiry. He testified in his own defense before that court: "I was never convinced in my own mind that we in the First Marine Air Wing had used bug warfare. I knew we hadn't, but the rest of it was real to me the conferences, the planes, and how they would go about their missions."

"The words were mine," the Colonel continued, "but the thoughts were theirs. That is the hardest thing I have to explain: how a man can sit down and write something he knows is false, and yet, to sense it, to feel it, to make it seem real."

14. They missed a trick...
they could've dragged this out to 30 confessions for each separate alleged terror plot.

It could've been one confession a fortnight. This way Buscho have made it seem like they've solved every terror plot that ever existed all in one fell swoop...which may convince the gullible 33% but reality will show otherwise...

I guess if you can't catch OBL, then this is what you do for a 'bounce'. I do want to add that our TV station did the Mohammed headline after the Gonzo headline (which he introduced as Albert Gonzales), so I was glad to see both reported AND in the right order.

28. Does This Sound Like An Expression That Would Come From A Non-American?.........
“I was responsible for the 9/11 operation from A to Z".

Come-on.

This is not something that would come from the mouth of a foreigner. ....from A to Z.

This guy confessed to everything imaginable - and that is not believable.

Seems like this was trotted out to take some of the pressure off of - well:

- firing of the state AG's
- Libby conviction
- Walter Reed/VA's shortcomings
- New Orleans pumps
- faltering so-called war
etc,etc,etc

It won't work this time - though.

30. Most of the information in the 9/11 Commission Report about
al Qaeda came from KSM.

At one point the Commissioners considered whether they should
talk to KSM themselves, or at least listen in on the phone
during some interviews.

Naw, they decided. The transcripts were just fine. Good enough
for government work, as the saying goes.

might be shorter list if they stuck just to WHAT HE DIDN'T CONFESS TO DOING..

meanwhile - according to the "documents" is seems we have our "Evil Doer" behind 9-11 and every other act of terror. So, can we bring our troops home from Afghanistan and Iraq?

no need to continue further - we found the bag guy hiding in Gitmo...

32. I seem to remember when KSM was first arrested that it was
within two or three days they had some sort of confession out of him. I thought at the time that the only way they would have gotten information from him in that short length of time was to use torture. Does anyone else remeber the timeline on that?

33. Let's suppose that everything he confessed to is true.
That means that the guy responsible for the horrendous attack on our country on 9/11 was captured in Pakistan on March 1, 2003 in a CIA raid. So why did our military go into Iraq and why have they been there for 4 years?

36. This is the reverse side of the "beat the masses into silent indifference" coin.
Bushco commits multiple crimes, and we've become inured to our condition.

Now, Bushco finds we don't care either about their great "finds". Americans realize that it MAKES NO DIFFERENCE!
The Illegal Invasion and concomitant deaths of young Americans won't end.

P.S. Who SAYS this guy is "the suspected mastermind"? The Liar-in-Chief? "Suspected", my Aunt Fanny. Just like "suspected" purchases of uranium, and "suspected" mobile bio-labs, and ....

I saw his picture in the paper today, and for some reason, that jumped into my head: that he was once a bought and paid for CIA informer.

Am I misremembering this? Or perhaps confusing a movie plot with reality?

Man, senility sucks.
