DWW's LAM FIRING - PHONY COMPANIES PART II - THE "POWAY MAFIA" EARMARKS AWAY DEMOCRACY! (must read!)
Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 12:58 PM by Dems Will Win

http://web.archive.org/web/20051214100740/http://www.powaymafia.com/

Yesterday my thread, WHY CAROL LAM WAS THE "REAL PROBLEM": CORRUPT GOP FUNDED PHONY DEFENSE COMPANIES! $700 MIL!! got over 200 Recs! THe GOP CongressCrooks stole hundreds of millions from the Treasury and used it to fund lavish lifestyles and lots and lots of GOP TV ads, allowing them to take many seats they might not otherwise have won.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x408673

Here is the email DoJ sent over getting rid of LAM:

Brent Wilkes and Mitchell Wade started phony defense companies and the following GOP scumbags accepted money in return for votes on lucrative earmarks for services the DoD never wanted and never asked for!

Henry Bonilla, Roy Brown, Rick Clayburgh, Duke Cunningham (of course!), John T. Doolittle, Maria Guadalupe Garcia, George W. Gekas, Lindsay Graham, Duncan Hunter, Darrell Issa, Samuel Johnson, Thaddeus G. McCotter, Constance Morella, Devin Nune, Steve Pearce, Bill Van de Weghe Jr., Jerry Weller. President Bush, Katherine Harris, Tom Delay, Virgil Goode Jr. and Elizabeth Dole.

Wilkes paid for the poker-hooker parties at the Watergate for Goss, Foggo and Cunningham and all who wanted.

LAM WAS FIRED BECAUSE SHE WAS ABOUT TO INDICT REP. JERRY LEWIS AND THEN OTHERS!

These creeps, Wilkes and Wade actually called themselves the "Poway Mafia" because they headquartered their phony defense companies in Poway in San Diego. Altogether, Wilkes Wade and some other phonies stole an estimated $700 MILLION.

And that's a lot of money, enough to steal a lot of elections when funneled back to the criminal GOP CongressCrooks.

All of the phony company Web sites below AND the creepy Poway Mafia Web site above were all updated on the same day: Dec. 13 2005. (Archive.org)

From Cannonfire:

I still have yet to discover any evidence that the other "defense-related" enterprises operating under the Wilkes umbrella were genuine businesses. "Group W Media," the advertising agency with no discernable clients, was a front for something -- I don't yet know what. "Group W Transportation" amounted to a time-share arrangement involving a Lear jet. "Al Dust Properties" and "Group W Holdings" supposedly owned properties -- but I can't trace any holdings beyond the impressive building which the Wilkes Corporation called home. (It's now up for auction, by the way.) MailSafe Inc. supposedly offers "mail decontamination, digital capture, and electronic distribution to government and commercial entities." But the web site has disappeared, and the company seems to have left zero imprint on corporate America. Where is the evidence that it actually provided any services to clients?

"PerfectWave Technologies" has (or had) what seems, at first, to be an impressive web page advertising speech recognition devices for the military. (That page is really little more than a ghost, since the official Wilkes Corp. site no longer points to it.) Look closer: The site does not specify any PerfectWave products. Neither do we encounter any named personnel or development teams. No order information. If this company makes battlefield-ready high-tech equipment, why doesn't the the web site mention any departments, managers or employees? All we get is a single phone number and a fax number. Now conduct a Google search: Aside from channeling funds to politicians, PerfectWave hasn't done anything to warrant a mention.

"Pure Aqua Technologies" another Wilkes operation, seems to be pure snake oil. No address, no telephone number, no nothing -- except this stupid web page, which is a joke.

This from a Kossak, LieparDestin:

And thats when things start to get interesting for me. Take a look at the Group W Media site again. For an advertising firm, thats like... no substance. No nothing. Just a single phone number and a mysterious login form.

http://www.archerlogistics.com/

Then take a look at another site owned by Wilkes, this time a company by the name of Archer Logistics. Noting any similarities? A little substance, a smokescreen mostly. No employee names, ceo names, nothing.

On to Acoustical Communication Systems. A bit more substance to this company on first glance, but after a mere look around you'll notice its all filler. No news, no employee names, no nothing. A Google or two will turn up that this and other companies listed, apparently never did anything of substance at all. Notice the address of 13970 Stowe Drive

Poway, CA 92064, the same as that Group W Media and ADCS.

http://web.archive.org/web/20051214040938/http://www.libertydefensetech.com/

How about Liberty Defense Tech (above link).

http://web.archive.org/web/20030209233904/http://www.akamaiinfotech.com

AkamaiInfo Tech ...

Now my favorite so far is PerfectWave Technologies Look at that site! Fancy Smancy, at first glance you think you have something. Second glance even. But try one more time, notice the address: LOCATION

13970 Stowe Drive, Poway, CA 92064. Notice the lack of ways to contact them. Lack of employee information or any media releases, etc. Google and Yahoo turn up nothing from this company except donations to the GOP. All these high-level companies, all in this 11 million dollar building , but at the same time this article says that only 100 people work at the building. But anyhow, more on PerfectWave.

Political Money Line has these contributions listed:

Gelwix, Max D

5/12/2004 $1,000.00

Poway, CA 92064

Perfect Wave/Pres/CEO

RELY ON YOUR BELIEFS FUND

2 . Gelwix, Max D

9/26/2003 $1,000.00

Poway, CA 92064

Perfect Wave/Pres/CEO

FUTURE LEADERS PAC

3 . Gelwix, Max D.

6/9/2004 $2,500.00

Poway, CA 92064

Perfect Wave Technoligies/President

REFORM PAC

4 . Gelwix, Max D.

8/14/2003 $5,000.00

Poway, CA 92064

Perfect Wave/Pres/CEO

AMERICANS FOR A REPUBLICAN MAJORITY POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE

5 . GELWIX, MAX P MR.

6/26/2003 $2,000.00

POWAY, CA 92064

PERFECT WAVE/COO

BUSH-CHENEY '04 (PRIMARY) INC

Try using the same site to search for ADCS, Wilkes (Brent and Regina), MZM etc.

Now I dont know if Im misinterpreting all this but to me it looks like: Wilkes and Co payoff Cunningham to get them DOD contracts. Wilkes and Co (guessing) subcontract these to whomever it is they subcontract them to, and skim a load off the top, funneling it into dummy business's to turn around and donate it to the GOP & GOP related causes.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/12/3/204731/868

MOST OF THESE COMPANIES HAVE THE SAME ADDRESS AND EVEN HAVE THE SAME FAX NUMBER: 858-848-0400!!

From Cannonfire again:

unlike Wilkes, Wade kept the MZM Pac housed in the very same office. (We must presume that they didn't have a great deal of office space, since unrelated tenants are in the same building.) When we look at the data on MZM Pac and its activities in 2003-2004, we learn that the population of this company has grown by leaps and bounds.

The PAC now lists roughly 100 names. A close scan of the names indicates that wives and children were recruited to the cause -- the cause being, of course, donations to G.O.P. candidates. (One of the named donors is "Joe Dollar." That can't be real -- can it?) Nearly all the donors are listed as employees of MZM Inc., and many have grandiose titles -- Chairman of this, VP of that. MZM employees, we learn, were told they had to make the donations or be fired. I believe there are laws against that sort of thing.

Frankly, I'm not at all sure how MZM transformed itself from a two-man law office into a go-go defense and intelligence firm.

Please recommend so the phony defense company/money laundering/services fraud angle on the Lam Firing gets more light!

35. Sure thing, Dems Will Win-and maybe you could help me out with Hawk Associates Inc.
which I came across while researching IAP's involvement in the Walter Reed outpatient scandal.

Hawk Associates Inc. is another "investment relations" business that has the look of a black budget network.

Here's a link for those that might want to research another possible corrupted outfit.

What is most amazing is that these guys took so little precaution against being exposed creating phony companies and websites. That should tell us a lot about their worries with the Republicans in control.

Great work. K & R

In addition to having great food (Korean, Cuban, Jamaican, etc. fusion stuff), I've always had hoped that I'd spy on someone like Brent Wilkes there with Brian Bilbray or someone else from the Poway Mafia like that and get good "blackmail" photos of them there! :) Figured that if they liked smokin' Cuban cigars at the Watergate hotel in Washington, that they might like more Cuban stuff at a place like this over lunch.

19. I remember reading about this on Canonfire last year
He was on to these guys.....either Wade or Wilkes had some kind of contracts doing DHS work with the WH, IIRC....I'll bet that provided the conduit for spreading the money around. No question, this company was designed to get government contracts then funnel a lot of the monies back into RNC campaigns. If anyone doubts that these guys are part of the Republican Crime Syndicate, this should set them straight.

Indeed, I think Carol Lam was the target of the WH/DOJ. Most of the others were added to provide some cover to take her out.

Good work!

Mitchell Wade , 48 (bio) MZM founder; convicted of bribing a member of Congress

These started in 1996-2005

$73,200* Republican
$1,000 Democrat
$13,500 special interest

total: $87,700

http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_result.php?first=mitchell&last=wade&st=

At the above link you can also search Wilkes donations. Unlike Abramoff they did give money to the dems, but not enough to make that much of a difference, and of course not a dime to the DNC whereas lotsa money going to the RNC.

How does it make you FEEL knowing you have been financing the GOP machine?!?!?

I did a commentary comic blog Sunday on this topic, however, you have done an amazing job, Dems Will Win.

I will be doing more comic blogging to include your research on this scandal.

I have been one to have noticed how the whole government sponsored lobbying was only benefitting the GOP.
And of course the picture wouldn't be complete without the Faith Based Initiatives that is also being used to funnel more money into the GOP coffers.

A well closed loop system.

... catching hold anyplace.

All of the good stories about his many corrupt activities get lost in the shuffle with all of the "running for president" nonsense that I'm guessing many Republicans don't take seriously either!

You go back in time and before he announced he was running, he always timed a lot of public statements about other "non-issues" at the same time other things about him came to light. His running for president has a lot more staying power in the corporate media and therefore doesn't require him constantly to issue newer stuff to cover up other stories as they come out.

Look up the NTC/Corky McMillan development mess issue that's going on right now. I missed that earlier, and wouldn't have found out about it unless someone else had pointed it out. And I google with "-v" options to filter out the AP press release of the day noise, etc. to try and follow the REAL stories about him.

33. That's what Carol Lam was about to do
She was going to start with Jerry Lewis Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Committee first and then get all the Republicans on the Committee because they all worked together.

So Rove had her "pushed out" because she was the "real problem"!

Now the House or Senate will have to investigate -- like Watergate.

42. So, what can be done w/the RNC
I mean, of course, any individuals involved can and should be prosecuted and locked up for their crimes, but what this shows is that the Republican Party (on the national level, at the very least) is a CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION! As such, in the interests of justice, shouldn't we just

SHUT IT DOWN!!???

Won't Rico help with that? Conservatives, so-called, may be entitled to their political opinions and ideologies (such as they are), but if an organization supports and enables crime, not once, not twice, but systematically and as an inescapable aspect of the way it does "business", then why, how, can a supposedly Nation of Laws NOT shut it down.

I mean, this defines the Republican Party as not just "anti-democratic" or "anti-American" or anti-anything (subjective political judgments to be debated), but AGAINST THE LAW!!!

:wtf:

40. There's also the question of Titan and private intelligence
I started looking into Titan a little when the attorney firing story first came out -- because that was Carol Lam's other big case:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4310331.stm

2 March, 2005

A US defence and telecommunications company has agreed to pay $28.5m after admitting bribery in the West African state of Benin. The Titan corporation was accused of funnelling more than $2m into the 2001 re-election campaign of President Mathieu Kerekou. At the time, Titan was trying to get a higher price for a telecommunications project in Benin. . . .

Titan, a California-based company, pleaded guilty to falsifying its accounts and violating US anti-bribery laws. It agreed to pay $13m in criminal penalties, as well as $15.5m to settle a civil lawsuit brought by the US financial watchdog, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). . .

Prosecuting attorney Carol Lam said: "All US companies should take note that attempting to bribe foreign officials is criminal conduct and will be appropriately prosecuted."

One interesting fact about Titan is that they're Duncan Hunter's largest contributor -- and Hunter did his best to squash the Abu Ghraib scandal on their behalf. Another is that Titan is not merely a major defense contractor, but an intelligence contractor. Here's Daniel Hopsicker from last fall:
http://www.madcowprod.com/11072006B.html

NOV 7 2006

A MadCowMorningNews investigation has revealed that San Diego defense contractor Titan Corp is at the center of a private intelligence network engaged in a broad range of criminal activities with seeming impunity, everything from drug trafficking to white collar crime that includes massive stock fraud cumulatively totaling billions.

The network involves elements from the military, as well as intelligence agencies like the CIA and Mossad, in combination with Gulf and Saudi financiers like the notorious Adnan Khashoggi, and individuals who give off more than a whiff of international organized crime.

However, with the recent conviction and sentencing of California Republican Congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham, the influence-peddling scandal involving a nest of San Diego defense and intelligence contractors that includes Brent Wilkes, Titan Corp. and SAIC may be losing momentum before getting anywhere close to the dark heart of corruption beating just below the surface.

A cabal of Republican Congressmen from Southern California that remain unscathed have culpability: Duncan Hunter, Dana Rohrabacher and a man who may be doing more long-term damage to American national security than any of the others, current Chairman of the SEC and former Republican U.S. Rep. from Newport Beach, Christopher Cox.

And no, I don't know if Hopsicker is right about all of this -- but if he were, it would sure connect a lot of dots.

Duncan Hunter, like Wilkes and Foggo and so many of these people, has roots back in the Iran-Contra days, when he was connected with the World Anti-Communist League and the American Security Council.

Rohrabacher and Cox also have interesting connections. They've been pals since the early 80's -- and Rohrabacher has also been friends with Jack Abramoff since the same period.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_Rohrabacher

With Reagan soon leaving office, Rohrabacher left the Administration in 1988 to pursue the open House seat recently vacated by Dan Lungren. With the fundraising help of friend Oliver North, Rohrabacher was able to win the Republican primary and capture the seat, centered around northern coastal Orange County. A friend and fellow White House aide, Chris Cox, won a seat in the same election in southern Orange County. The pair remained close, though Cox — now chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission — rose in the party hierarchy while the more iconoclastic Rohrabacher charted his own course. . . .

Rohrabacher had a history of involvement in Afghanistan dating back to the Cold War, when he openly supported the groups that were fighting troops from the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. In late 1988, Rohrabacher went to Afghanistan . . .

During the summer of 2001, Rohrabacher made a trip to Qatar that was paid for by the Islamic Institute and the Government of Qatar, according to Rohrabacher’s financial disclosure forms. While in Qatar, Rohrabacher, Grover Norquist, and Khaled Saffuri met with Taliban Foreign Minister Mullah Wakil Ahmed Muttawakil. Wakil reportedly asked for help in increasing the amount of foreign aid sent by the United States to Afghanistan, apparently in exchange for U.S. oil company UNOCAL being allowed to construct of an oil pipeline through Afghanistan.

So there's a whole lot here to think about that goes even beyond the Poway Mafia -- but it all has its roots in the same tainted soil of the Reagan years.

67. I work right next door to it in Rancho Bernardo..
and go there every weekend to Costco there to get gas and groceries.

It is just north of San Diego in an area that is mixed with some very wealthy areas, and some areas that are pretty average folk too. The real wealthy area is in Rancho Santa Fe here which is to the west of both of these towns before you get to the north coast above San Diego. That's where they had those wacked out suicide cult incidents some years back.

66. This looks more and more like the "Octopus" that got Danny Casolaro killed...
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 12:01 AM by EVDebs
Remember when he was looking into the Camazon Band of Indians and their onsite testing site for weapons etc during the Iran-Contra days ? This is the tribe responsible for 'Indian Gaming' nationwide due to their ties to the Nichols (former CIA) guy who managed the small tribe. During Reagan's era, the Supreme Court allowed gaming on their sovereign lands, within the USA. Prior scandals involving the Nugen-Hand Bank in Australia and MiddleEast and the Bishop Baldwin Rewald Dillingham and Wong operation in Hawaii led to the idea of doing things within the boundaries of the US

74. Wackenhut, the Cabazons, partnered up to do weapons demonstrations
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 10:52 AM by EVDebs
including CBW warfare stuff during Iran/Contra days according to articles by Harry Martin of the Napa Register.

http://whale.to/b/martin2.html

See item #4

""During the early 1980s, Riconoscuito served as the Director of Research for a joint venture between the Wackenhut Corporation of Coral Gables, Florida and the Cabazon Band of Indians of Indio, California. The joint venture was located on the Cabazon reservation. The joint venture sought to develop and manufacture certain materials that are used in military and national security operations, and biological and chemical warfare weapons. The Cabazon Band of Indians are a sovereign nation and thus have immunity from U.S. regulations and stringent government controls.

The Wackenhut-Cabazon joint venture was intended to support the needs of a number of foreign governments and forces, including forces and governments in Central America and the Middle East. The Contras in Nicaragua represented one of the most important priorities for the joint venture. The joint venture maintained close liaison with certain elements of the U.S. Government, including representatives of intelligence, military and law enforcement agencies. Among the frequent visitors to the Wackenhut-Cabazon joint venture were Peter Videnicks of the U.S. Department of Justice and a close associate of Videnicks, Dr. Earl W. Brian, who served in the California cabinet of Governor Ronald Reagan and who has very close ties and business dealings with Meese.

In connection with Riconoscuito's work, he engaged in some software work in 1983 and 1984 on the PROMIS computer software product, developed by INSLAW but being used, without payment, by the U.S. Department of Justice. A federal court has awarded INSLAW $6.8 million against the U.S. Department of Justice. ""

I think this had something to do with Casolaro's murder/'suicide' and is symptomatic of what is going on right now. Much of the ill-gotten gains goes directly into Congressional hands circumventing the Constitution and DoD oversight. Outright bribery is what it looks like to me. The R's project appears to have tapped completely into the beast.

Yeah, Poway's not too far from Indio as the crow flies too. North SD County to Riverside County. The jurisdictional problems would assist in hampering an investigation too. These R's are GOOD.

69. It's the HighTech Update of Scaife/Nixon Crimes
Everything Old is New Again:

Scaife’s support of candidate Nixon in 1972 is legendary; Scaife gave 330 checks for $3,000 each to 330 “dummy” organizations that fronted for Nixon’s campaign. After the Watergate scandal Scaife called for Nixon’s resignation.

Does this mean Wade and Wilkes will be calling for Impeachment?

in reading this post I'm reminded of this farewell address in Jan, 1961, ...

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence – economic, political, even spiritual – is felt in every city, every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

snip

And now it is not just the military industrial complex, but the corporatism in total of every aspect of our economy and society, that has obtained the 'acquisition of unwarranted influence' within the cadre of political elite of both parties. And now, ... the use of corrupt corporate monies derived from sucking the taxpayer's teats to fund their self perpetuating government financed campaigns.

What is the expected price tag of the next Presidential election? Nearly a billion alone for the two parties two top candidates?

Grass roots and populism are forever dead on this playing field.

With the attorney scandal, and the information you have collected, the Dems have a chance to take the first step in curtailing the 'unwarranted influence'. If the Democratic party worked with the press in exposing this, the corporate media would have no choice but to cover this. It will be interesting to see if the Washington Dems choose to follow the sunshine of discovery, at risk of offending the shared corporate sponsors of today's political process

on edit (below)

Though it is evident, republican 'fall guy' corporate fronts were created for this particular bilking, the issue of corporate financed elections will be exposed, and be a fresh imprint on the voters minds. At this point it is evident the elite of both parties do not oppose the corporate sponsorship, and few will pay more than scant lip service, to campaign spending limits and federal regulated and mandated public financing, of elections.

I hope I am wrong, and time will tell, if the Dems will pick up the ball and run with it toward the democratic goal, our fore-fathers granted us, before the days in which corporate rights, transcended those of the citizens.
