HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Asian markets extended losses early Monday amid concerns about the global financial crisis, with Japanese shares down sharply on banks such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and exporters like Sony Corp. In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 Average slumped 2.7% to 10,638.41, taking losses into a third straight session, and the broader Topix index fell 2.8% to 1,019.06. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 shed 1.9% to 4,604.50, and South Korea's Kospi lost 2.6% to 1,382.34, while New Zealand's NZX 50 index dropped 2.2% to 3,081.48.
