The Progressive Mantra
"Think for yourself!" Compare the claims of truth for yourself, and then you decide. Don't be a "ditto-head." (Still listening to Ed Schultz today, and he had a thirty minute talk with a Limbaugh supporter. The difference between the progressive and the conservative/regressive mindsets is enormous.)

They talk about "librulz" without any notion whatsoever about where the term "liberal" comes from. It comes from a root-word that also means liberty and liberation. Liberal is that which tends to liberate a human being. Debt doesn't liberate anyone. Blind obedience to dogma doesn't liberate anyone. Enslavement of any kind--body, mind or spirit--does not liberate anyone. This constitutional republic, built on democratic premises, was dedicated to liberation. In that sense the "ditto-head" herd mentality is inherently unAmerican. This nation was never intended to be a nation of lemmings. It's a nation dedicated to thinking for one's self, honestly and courageously. I'll never apologize for being a liberal and a progressive, for I believe that's the real American Way...the real patriotism. Jefferson had it right: Be a critical thinker. Question with boldness. Think for yourself.

(end of sermon)

1. Oh hell yea!!
I'll never understand why so many people seem to be terrified of thinking, get any repug in a simple conversation, one-on-one, and they shut down:evilgrin:

2. I could be wrong, of course, but...
...I seriously doubt it at this ripe old age.

John Dean's book "Conservatives without Conscience" gives ample proof of what I was just talking about. The authoritarian mindset, in order to work, needs people who will accept its bullying ways...who will submit to being told how to think and believe. I'm not really a partisan either: I am fed up the most with a particular mindset which was allowed to take over control of the Republican Party. Regardless of what may happen to the GOP in the future, it's that mindset that needs to be overturned and replaced. We just can't afford any more of this.
