It's Official !!! California moves its Primary

up to Feb 5 2008. Arnold Schwarzenegger just officially
announced. This can mean Primaries are over and
our Candidate is known on Super Tuesday, Feb 5.

According to B Schneider, other large states
are considering the same action--NJ NY Fla
to name a few. As more states with large numbers
of delegates join the change--it becomes a National
Primary and each party's candidate is selected.

Addvantages---Larger States are given opportunity
to participate more actively in deciding who
our Candidate is.

Disadvantage depending on your opinion. Limits
Candidates. Only candidates with large amts of
Cash can particpate. 2ond and lower tier
candidates had just as well drop out. If there
is anyone considering entering and has money, money
money, they had better get in soon or it will be too
late.

with the money is going to buy the lion's share of the on-air time.

I hate it when we're manipulated by the monied forces rather than ideas within our own party.

If you thought it was bad before, well it's ALL about money now. This plays right into the hands of corporatists and plutocrats, the ruthless and the supergreedy. Yuk!

especially if other large states follow suite. This effectively knocks all the 2nd tier candidates out of the race - they just won't have the money to compete in the large media markets of states like California.

Not so sure that's a great thing for the rest of America.

I want elections to become publicly funded. We need to get rid of these big bucks candidates who have their hands in thousands of special interest and lobbyist pockets.

We need people in office who AREN'T POLITICIANS. And the only way that's ever going to happen is to give the little guy with no money a chance.

The problem with the drawn-out primary season is it does a lot of the Repukes' work for them,

After six months of mud, the R's already know how to go after our candidate.

I don't see the money thing as a disadvantage, because in the 2004 system we lost most of our candidates due to lack of funds. Running for president is expensive.

I think the second tiers can have a chance IF they can dump all of their money in our basket... the delegates from our state could be enought to propel a strong finish in the later primaries.

Let them spend some of the money here , Let them kiss some Calif ass for a change. We deserve the infuence as much as New Hampshire. Let them compete for the liberal vote. More people more votes more money So?

A western state will actually have influence on the candidate chosen? Amazing! They finally recognized there are plenty of Americans who live in the Western United States, not just the East. More progressive too!
