Oil dropped below $90 a bbl. even though production in the Gulf of Mexico is down about 40% due to damaged offshore platforms from the hurricanes. A small silver lining in a sea of despair.

2. Gas prices drop before elections...
...at least, when Republicans are in power. The oil companies prefer to miss out on 2 quarters' obscene profits to ensure that compliant Congressmen/Senators/Presidents are elected. Maybe the Publicans are leaning on them, or maybe Big Oil just knows which side its bread is buttered on.

Regardless, this happened in 2006 as well. Didn't work then, won't work this time either.

5. Out here in The Broccoli(Western NJ)...
It's still over $3.00, around $3.29. I just drove back on 46 from Bartonsville PA and it hasn't budged. Diesel is still REAL expensive as well.

They're just out to suck us dry. Government needs to step in, but since this is Jersey, I give that possibility a hearty .

You gotta drive a couple of those air-dried Mortadellas that guy at that Italian Deli makes every time this year out to me in the gulag archipelego of Belvitucky. And some of those hot pepper black olives.

Oh, that place is like heaven!

I was shocked, went to the laundromat last week, place is empty and for rent sign up, no "moved to" sign or anything.

6. It's reacting to the collapse of the economy
The market thinks demand is going to plummet as manufacturing slows down, people can't afford to drive, etc. Cheaper gas is about the only silver lining in the recent news.
