Okay, my brain hurts this morning...I thought the dow closed at 10,003 yesterday...
yet it shows it being up 20+ points and UNDER 10k.

3. Settlement takes longer these days

In this screwed-up market, there's often an order imbalance at 4pm ET, and it takes several minutes to resolve those trades. The Dow fell about 50 points during that settlement yesterday. Last Monday (I think it was), it fell more than 200 "after the close."
