One of my favorite bloggers went to the debate
She always struck me as an intelligent woman with a knack for dealing with the absurdities of life with good common sense and hilarious blog posts.

A few days ago, she crowed that she had scored a ticket to the debate; I was green with envy but surprised when she described herself as undecided.

Huh? Was she just being coy?

Yesterday, she reported on her experience at the debate and announced that she had made up her mind. She is voting for McCain. He won her over.

I felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach. She's a thinking person! How can any thinking person not see right through -- augh!

Of course, she was deluged with comments ranging from supportive to "You idiot!" to "Did we watch the same debate?" to "You need to read this and this and this..." I didn't leave a comment myself; I just couldn't bring myself to "speak" to her right now.

Anyway, it just goes to show that you can never really know your cyberfriends. Or something. I'm not sure what the lesson is here. I just feel so... betrayed!

1. She wasn't really undecided I bet.
Hardly anyone was won over by McCain at the last debate, according to the numbers and focus groups.

3. I do not believe anyone who says they are undecided.
The undecided are people who are afraid to state their views or want to desperately be on the winning side no matter who/what they have to support.

4. Why? Why? Why? How? How? How can anybody with 2 brain cells to rub together be undecided
at this point? There are actually people who believe that Obama and McCain are so close together that they cannot make up their minds? They cannot decide between steak and baloney? Incredible!

5. So, she was won over by a man who incites violence?
Clearly, she is a dangerous person. One can not support someone who incites calls of "terrorist," "kill him" and "off with his head" without being violent themselves. I think you should consider yourself lucky, as clearly she is unstable.

15. The name is Javaman.
because I have heard these types of things before time and time again here on DU all based on hearsay and supposition with no link provided. They are classic cases of people baiting and switching to further the rightwing propaganda, however, it now appears that you have provided a link and I will go check it out.

16. Well, alrighty then
I have to admit, though, that it pissed me off to be slammed so quickly.

I only posted this because I felt like I got blindsided by someone whose writings I've enjoyed for the past three years. I guess I was looking for a little commiseration, but now I feel like I've been blindsided again.

It's a little off-putting, you know.

18. It would do yourself a good service next time you post something like this
to include the link right off the bat, it prevents the pile on.
