Prior to Bush, only 3 U.S. attorneys fired in 30 some years.
One by Carter, Reagan, and Clinton each, apparently.

Who were they, and why were they fired?

2. You're talking about mid-term firings, right?
One keeps hearing the talking head freaks on the right say that every President replaces U.S. attorneys. But I believe that only applies to the beginning of their terms of office. Where did you get this information about only three?

3. Yes. Midterm firings.
Where? Very sources at DU.

I suspect that all three were fired for blatantly improper misdeeds, making a sharp contrast with the reasons Bush fired these attorneys.

Depending on the situation, an AG could step down for personal reasons rather than fight in public.

Both sides of this are playing fast and loose with the numbers...
