There are FIVE McCain/Palin signs on my street!
And it's not a very big street, maybe 20 houses...

The campaign must have been past here, or maybe one of the neighbors is working for them. Ugh.

And this is in Santa Cruz County, one of those most liberal counties in California. McCain/Palin will lose badly here, probably by a 3 to 1 margin at least. I live in an unincorporated part of the County that is predominantly rich and white, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

I just can't wait to see them taking down the signs on Nov. 5...

3. How do you resist the temptation to....oh, nevermind.
I was driving home yesterday and came through our small town of 3000 and what do I see? A HUGE mccain/palin sign. This thing has to be six feet square. It was on the front of a shop that does stained glass...one of those places I've wanted to go into but know I can't afford anything there so I don't, shop. If it weren't on the main street....aw, nevermind.

We are surrounded on three sides by Republicans. I want to move.

11. I make careful note of who displays GOP signs at their business

Any company that gets so openly involved in politics can feel the effects of people not supporting their ideology - either party. There are several shops that put Bush signs out in 2004 that I haven't set foot into since 2004.

residence, so I hesitate to put a sign out. Our immediate neighbors would be OK with it but with construction being what it is I won't risk it. I help out other ways.

13. Well, I do have to live on this street...
So I'm not much into rabble-rousing right here.

But I will certainly help them take them down on Nov. 5. :)

4. We double up the Obama signs here
The McCain people only have one sign up so I talked to all of the Obama people in my neighborhood and we're all putting up 2-3 Obama signs each.

10. I bought a stack of them from my local field office - I keep three up in my yard
Haven't had any pulled up yet. Not many McCain signs in my area, although there are a few. I have gotten with all of my neighbors that I know are Democrats and made sure they had plenty of signs for their own yards - my treat.

Buy a few and give them to neighbors who you know are supportive. Even if you don't know, it's a good opportunity to talk to your neighbors and answer any questions or dispel any myths that they might have.

8. Nah, that's what they do, pretty immature and ridiculously anti-American
Leave them up. Watch them enjoy taking them down in November, cold and dejected. Leave your Obama sign up for all to see.

9. Please
Don't tell me that. How anybody can support McSame and his little sidekick Sarah is beyond me. I cannot fathom McCain signs anywhere near Santa Cruz. :wtf:

12. I can't fathom it either, especially here...
But I think that I just live in a little cluster of Republicans. Just on my street. I remember looking at precinct information during the 2006 election and Dems outnumbered Repubs by a wide margin, even in this part of the county.

Overall in my county, registration runs almost 3-1 Democratic.

And I just looked up donor statistics: over $50k in my zip code to Obama, only $13k to McCain.

So they can have their little signs, I suppose...

15. Nah, it's a nice place to live...
There are plenty of Dems on the street and in the neighborhood, as I posted elsewhere in this thread. The Republicans are far outnumbered here, and they are dreaming if they think McCain is going to get any kind of numbers in this area on Nov. 5.

These people must already feel quite outnumbered, despite winning the "sign race" on the street.

My daughter is working for the Obama campaign this weekend, I'll have her grab a bunch of signs and we'll get them put up on the friendly lawns...

16. Go stand in the street in front of their house ...
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 03:34 PM by RoyGBiv
Point at the sign.

Casually cover your mouth with your other hand as you smile really big.

Then start to chuckle.

Keep pointing at the sign.

Let the chuckle come up to a full laugh and finally lose yourself in an full-on roar of laughter.

And keep pointing at the sign.

This is even more effective if friends and family join in ... slowly ... one by one ... until you have a crowd.
