I need an answer from DUers
Why would citizens of a country with a major financial crisis vote for a team that has one person who came 894th in class out of 899 and the other who took five years in five colleges to earn a B.A.

Why would citizens of a country with a major financial crisis vote for a man who publicly admitted he knows nothing about the economy and who demonstrates that every time he speaks on the subject.

Are people masochists by nature or are they plain stupid?

Let me add that all the polls suggests they will not vote for these morons but M$Greedia is still suggesting otherwise.

4. You have summed it up pretty well.
But I do not think they represent the majority of this country. And if we have a fair election it will be a land slide for Obama.

6. And being anti-choice.
Actually heard a pro-McSame guy on NPR this morning say, "If you can't get born, then none of the other issues are important."

So for some people, it's all about the rights of the sperm, and never mind the sanity of the parent who has to contend with supporting and rearing unexpected kids.

7. So they'd rather suffer than opt for change?
That makes no sense.

9. They don't hear it that way.
Glenn Speck, with other asshole RWers, are out there saying they would rather not have money for their kids to go to college and live in their cars. Rather than give this country to "Socialists".

5. Ignorance & Arrogance
Those are the key qualities to be a repugnican...and to be proud of both.

Sadly, many in this country have grown in a fishbowl of American "superiority"...where this country can do no wrong. All news stories are framed on how things "affect" the U.S. with little regard to culture or history. We also have grown with a political culture polluted by a repugnican party that has built strawmen and talking points that went unchallenged for years that became "conventional wisdom"...thus we began to elect presidents we could have beers with rather than one who displayed a knowledge of governing and world events.

Also, remember, the GOOP's phony mantra of less government = less taxes. One of their easiest sells has been to tell people they pay too much to the government and how it's all bad. The real disconnect is when a party that is runs against "big government" then gets in control of that government. Until boooshie came along, we never had such a threat...now we know (not that some of us didn't figure this would happen).

In essence, we're a short attention span society that goes from crisis to crisis, event to event with a reactive approach which always plays into the GOOP hands. While Democrats are more deliberative, this looks "weak" to repugnicans and this is how they try to play the entire world. For some, they need a world of absolutes and certainty...the GOOP has long filled this void and added a good dose of racism, sexism, religious and sexual intolerance and all-around ignorance to build a phony image that is now imploding. But as has always been said, never understimate the stupidity of the short-term voter.

Cheers...

10. You're probably on the wrong board to ask that question, I wish I knew
why people insist on voting against their own best interests.

All one can say is what already has been posted in this thread, plus I'll add that the media that most people watch in the evening (TV) and listen to during the day (radio) acts as powerful propaganda.

11. Most people are stupid on purpose.
They see what they want to see, hear what they want to hear, and believe what they want to believe.

It's far easier to hate than it is to think.

12. Because they listen to lying hatemongers on radio and TV ...

... who are subsidized by the RNC and the corporatists who feed them
nothing but the party line. And that could be no further from the truth.

You have no idea how stupid and gullible a substantial percentage of Americans are (living as you do in wonderful Jamaica), but frankly this is the main reason that millions of people will vote for McCain.

Just watch Fox news and you'll have your answer.
