Raw anger coming from crowds at GOP rallies; McCain now taking steps to tamp it down
LAKEVILLE, Minn. (AP) _ The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is finally acting to tamp it down.

McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama's character, he described the Democrat as a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."

A sense of grievance spilling into rage has gripped some GOP events this week as McCain supporters see his presidential campaign lag against Obama. Some in the audience are making it personal, against the Democrat. Shouts of "traitor," ''terrorist," ''treason," ''liar," and even "off with his head" have rung from the crowd at McCain and Sarah Palin rallies, and gone unchallenged by them.

McCain changed his tone Friday when supporters at a town hall pressed him to be rougher on Obama. A voter said, "The people here in Minnesota want to see a real fight." Another said Obama would lead the U.S. into socialism. Another said he did not want his unborn child raised in a country led by Obama.

39. She is a Dominionist. As her AIP protege said "fires of hell are like frozen glaciers vs. my hatred"
They are the John Birch crowd Palin is bringing to the rallies.

The right wing version of the anti-semitic hard left in the International ANSWER coalition.

BTW, I feel sorry for that "he's an Arab" woman -- most folks like that have been fed a diet of lies and fear on their TV, many of them are homebound and afraid of what has happened to this country in the past 30 years -- changes Repubs continue to blame on 60s liberals and blacks.

5. Lead us into socialism
After a GOP administration calls for the biggest "big government" move in our history. There must be a drug called ignorance that these people actually inject themselves with. It's the only explanation.

32. Exactly. It was the GOP who just socialized our
economy or at least have tried to and now John McCain wants to socialize housing by taking over mortgages. These people are freaking on the short end of the intelligence stick.

17. It's probably RW tv an radio.
They send in crowds all ready to believe Obama is to blame for their financial woes, a terrorist who somehow got past the vetting committee, a guy who, recently, conspired with the Iraqis, blah, blah, blah, and now they are asked to face the truth.

Oh, God, I bet he wishes he'd never gone there. They wanted a villain to lynch and now McCain's saying there is none.

I blame McCain but I blame the whole RW media even more. Fox, Hannity, Limbaugh . . . it's hangin' up by the balls time, IMO.

I would like to see them held accountable. Reprimand them in a court of law, a congressional hearing or something before someone gets assassinated by the inbred idiots that listen to them.
